2. DEFENITION
• Interleukin is a kind of cytokines
• which plays a critical role in immunological regulation
and homeostasis
• It is originally discovered from leukocytes.
• It is found to be produced by a lot of cells including
macrophages, lymphocytic cells

3. INTERLEUKIN - 1
• linked to the innate immune response
• IL-1α, IL-1β, IL-18, IL-33, IL-36α, IL-36β, IL-36γ triggers
MPKK and NF-κB leading to inflammatory response
• can excrete as co-stimulation of T helper cells,
maturation and proliferation of B cells, activation of NK
cells and is relation to inflammation.

4. INTERLEUKIN-6
• discovered as a B-cell differentiation factor
• Pleiotropic cytokine that regulates immune response,
acute-phase response, hematopoiesis, and inflammation

5. INTERLEUKIN-10
• An anti-inflammatory cytokine
• suppresses immune function by blocking the synthesis of
proinflammatory cytokines (e.g., IL-1, IL-6, IFN-γ, and
TNF-α) in T cells, monocytes, and macrophages

6. INTERLEUKIN-12
• IL-12 involves in the
stimulation and
maintenance of Th1
cellular immune
responses
• Dendritic cells (DCs)
and phagocytes
produce IL-12 in
response to
pathogens during
infection

7. INTERLEUKIN 17
• IL-17 (interleukin 17)
is secreted by a
variety of innate cells
including
macrophages,
dendritic cells (DC),
natural killer, natural
killer T
• The IL-17 family
activates antibacterial
cytokines and
chemokines in MAPK,
NF-κB and C/EBPs
pathway.
