HISTORIC! That is perhaps the
only word that can aptly describe Prime
Minister Narendra Modi’s State visit to
United States ofAmerica and Egypt. In
the context of changing dynamics in
Asia-Pacific and the increasing role of
India to ensure peace and stability in the
region, this visit to the two nations,
have been a watershed moment in not
just Indian foreign relations and history,
but to a great extent, it has been a wa-
tershed moment for world history as
well!
Modi’s State guest honour extended
by USA stamps the Indian PM’s domi-
nant stature on world stage. Add to this
is the fact that USA, which has been
extremely hesitant in sharing its tech
and that too military tech, has now
openly embraced India and agreed on
sharing, is a testament to India’s grow-
ing global role, its rise to power and PM
Modi’s foreign policies and ‘tactics’!
On the other hand, PM’s State visit
to Egypt, a first official bilateral visit
by an Indian Prime Minister in over 26
years, is nothing short of historic. India
and Egypt will strengthen their ties in
various sectors as various MoUs
have been signed. During his two
day visit, PM engaged in several
programs and meetings. The Egyp-
tian angle is extremely crucial
from India’s point of view because both
WestAsia and NorthAfrica are strategi-
cally located regions which thus auto-
matically become important to our stra-
tegic interests.
Thus, the crucial visits of the dynam-
ic Prime Minister Narendra Modi has
once again put India on a higher footing
in world politics and presented the na-
tion and its ideas as a viable alternate,
and quite frankly a better one, for the
world which is witnessing crisis
one after the other!

THE DEFENCE
PARTNERSHIP
Defence partnership can flour-
ish with genuine and assured
life cycle support. It should
empower hosts with spares,
repairs and overhaul capability.
In fact, India can be utilized as
a hub for the region. Indians
are known for not discarding
their equipment in a hurry.
T55 tanks, which this author
was commissioned on as a
young man, continue to be
in service. Life cycle exten-
sion and retrofitting would be
in keeping with Indian ethos.
Russia sold India weapons
in famous barter deals like
bananas-for-guns exchanges.
Considering how long the
drone deal was delayed due to
money issues, Indians should
hope that the Russian example
will inject pragmatism into their
American partners’ working out
effective packages, especially
for life-cycle support.
here has been a
lot of hype about
the state visit of
Indian Prime
Minister Naren-
dra Modi to the United States. It
is being hailed as a defining step
ingrowingthestrategicrelation-
ship between the two nations.
Modi, beside his unprecedented
personalpopularity,carriedwith
him the legitimate expectations
of a rising India to the US.
The itinerary indicated how
much prominence had been ac-
corded to the visit. In the run-up
tothevisit,defencedealslikethe
purchaseofmuch-delayedPred-
ator armed drones worth $3 bil-
lionhavebeenfinalized.TheUS
has also agreed to a Transfer of
Technology (ToT) of FE-414
enginesforIndia’sTejas-2fight-
ers. It appears that the visit cov-
ered most bases, from formal
and informal events to defense
deals and publicity.
However, it is appropriate to
look beyond the hype and get
down to brass tacks in our ex-
amination. There are a few hard
choices that, if made, can really
foster a long-term and meaning-
ful strategic partnership be-
tween the world’s two largest
democracies.
American expectations are
basedonamodelofIndiancom-
pliance, if not one of an outright
patron-client relationship. De-
spite declining US power, the
huge remaining asymmetry be-
tween two prospective part-
ners—especially in defence
technology and brute hard pow-
er—fuels such expectations.
India, on the other hand, is
known to be a difficult ally. India
fiercely safeguards her strategic
autonomy and views herself as
practicing a refined version of
non-alignment. Indian reticence
resulted in giving new custom-
ized names to bilateral founda-
tion agreements. “Communica-
tions Compatibility and Security
Agreement” (COMCASA) had
to be tweaked and customized to
“CommunicationsInteroperabil-
ityandSecurityMemorandumof
Agreement” (CISMOA) for In-
dia. Such complexities, often
dubbed bureaucratese, have
prompted experts like Ashley
Tellis to highlight the limitations
of the promised relationship. In-
dia would like to be seen as the
ultimate balancer, promoting
multipolarity. New Delhi insists
onpartnershipevenwhenitmay,
inthenear-andmid-term,remain
the net recipient or beneficiary.
The geopolitical necessities
of dealing with an aggressive
China have forced India closer
to the Quad in order to dissuade
her aggressive neighbor. India
knows the limitations of such
relationships and doesn’t expect
boots on the ground. It also real-
istically appraises the concen-
tricity of Washington-led alli-
ances, like the Five Eyes alli-
ance which complements the
Quad, where India is missing.
India,withthePakistanithorn
in her side, was content to ac-
commodate Chinese sensitivi-
ties until 2020. Millennials with
no memory of the 1962 humili-
ation were content to remain
focusedongeo-economics.Eco-
nomic growth in cooperation
with China, as visualized by
Deng, seemed to be a fait ac-
compli. Xi Jinping, with his tac-
tical mindset and brash aggres-
sive maneuvers on the Sino-In-
dian borders, has destroyed that
strategic dream. Self-reliance,
decoupling and standing up to
bullies are now part of the al-
tered discourse in India.
While America may have
failed to mold India to its expec-
tations, Xi has certainly pushed
IndiaclosertotheUSbycreating
astrategicgulfbetweenhiscoun-
try and itsAsian neighbor. In the
future, while Washington may
not have a fully compliant ally, it
can certainly bank on a rising In-
dia competing with, countering
and balancing Beijing.
India has been dependent on
Russia for its armaments and
munitions since 1971, when
Nixon and Kissinger, chaper-
oned by Rawalpindi brass, were
courting China. Russia (and,
before it, the USSR) has been a
dependable ally to India, but its
capacity in a post-Ukraine sce-
nario will be severely circum-
scribed. More importantly, the
myth of Russian ToT stands ex-
posedbythefederation’scontin-
ued dependency on extra-Rus-
sian sources for critical compo-
nents. The arrangement really
amounts to licensed production.
The first things Russia will
need to borrow from India are
not just “print to design” (know-
how) but also know-why. India
has at its disposal probably the
largest inventory in a war sce-
nario, whether that is a proxy
war with Pakistan to the west or
a deployment (already prepared
for) to ward off China in the
north. Unlike many smaller na-
tions, India has not only dis-
played the nerve to stand up to
China but has undertaken quid-
pro-quo operations against it,
debunking the myth of Chinese
invincibility.
Indian crews have the magi-
cal ability to quickly master
equipment and improvise,
something that is known as In-
dian jugaad.This has been dem-
onstratedbyfarinferiorGnatsin
Indian hands taking on Sabre
jetsandnear-obsolescentCentu-
rions creating a graveyard of
Patton tanks. Unfortunately,
American equipment in Pak
hands was on the receiving end.
In 1971, Indians once again de-
fied the challenges of riverine
terrain in a lightning strike. Me-
diumtanks,T-55s,fordedboggy
fields and PT-76s floated across
mighty rivers with helicopters
ferrying infantry across. They
actually are devoted to and wor-
ship their weapons.
Ukrainian and other conflicts
havebustedreputationforinvin-
cibility of many famed weapon
systems, mostly due to inept
handling. One is reminded of a
horse breeder, who mandated
compulsory riding tests for his
customers. There can surely be
vested interest of US military-
industrial complex. Sell your

48th ANNIVERSARY OF THE EMERGENCY
‘Emergency’unforgettable period in India’s history: Modi
PTI
New Delhi
rime Minister
Narendra Modi

colleagues on Sunday re-
called the “dark days” of
Emergency, describing
those days as an “unfor-

was “totally opposite” to
the Constitutional values.
On the 48th anniver-
sary of the Emergency
declared by the then PM

several Union Ministers,
includingAmit Shah, Ra-
jnath Singh, Anurag

riti Irani, Pralhad Joshi,
Nitin Gadkari, and Arjun
Ram Meghwal lashed out
at the Congress, saying its
leadership had jailed mil-
lions overnight, keeping
the “ego of a family
above national interest”.
Union Home Minister
Amit Shah alleged that
the imposition of Emer-
gency was a “selfish”
power struggle and con-
tinues to remain a symbol
of Congress’ “dictatorial
mentality”.
“On this day in 1975, a
family imposed an Emer-
gency in the country, tak-
ing away the rights of the
people and killing de-
mocracy, fearing losing
power from their hands,”
Shah said in a tweet.
Defence Minister Ra-
jnath Singh said, “Today,
democracy is alive in In-
dia due to the contribution
of those who fought dur-
ing the Emergency, went
to jail and suffered tor-
ture. The coming genera-
tions of India can never
forget their contribution.”

took to Twitter to slam the
imposition of Emergency.
“On June 25, 1975, a fam-
ily due to its dictatorial

Emergency,” he said.
Union minister Smriti
Irani tweeted a five-min-
utevideowiththehashtag

cy, which narrated the
events leading to the
Emergency, and alleged
brutalities by the Con-
gress-led government
during the period. “Free-
dom of press was choked,
and the judiciary’s arms
cut off,” it said.
Union Minister Hard-

ties committed against
supporters of democracy.

PM MODI’S EGYPT VISIT POTENTIAL “GAME CHANGER”,

Cairo: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s two-day visit to Egypt
has been hailed by analysts as a potential “game changer”
for bilateral ties, according to Al Jazeera. The PM’s trip to
Egypt is expected to pave the way for a substantial increase in In-
dia’s investment in the North African country and a ladder for Egypt
to gain entry to the BRICS economic bloc. It is PM Modi’s first visit
to Egypt as prime minister and the first by any Indian prime minister
since 1997. The visit comes months after Egyptian President Abdel
Fattah el-Sisi’s January visit to New Delhi when he was the chief
guest at India’s 74th Republic Day celebrations. El-Sisi was the first
Egyptian president accorded the honour. PM Modi’s visit has been
viewed as strengthening the bilateral relations the two sides had
already elevated to a strategic level during el-Sisi’s January visit.

The Bharat Rashtra

its boycott of meetings
called by the Centre, in
yet another indication of
its closeness with the BJP
ahead of the Telangana
Assembly elections.
After a gap of over
two-and-a-half years,
BRS sent its representa-
tives to a meeting con-
vened by the Centre. Its
former MP and vice-
chairman of the Telan-
gana State Planning
Board, B Vinod Kumar
on Saturday attended an
all-party meeting on the
Manipur situation.
The BRS has been
boycotting the meetings
convened by the Centre
since November 2020.
Chief Minister K Chan-
drasekhar Rao had also
skipped the meetings
chaired by Prime Minis-
ter Narendra Modi.
KCR had skipped the
NITI Aayog meeting
chaired by the prime
minister last month. He
had also boycotted the
NITI Aayog meeting in
August last year as a
mark of protest against
the Central government’s
“discriminatory” attitude
towards the states.
In a letter to the PM,
KCR wrote that the Cen-
tre is not treating states as
equal partners in a collec-
tive effort to make India
a strong and developed.
KCR had also stopped
receiving the PM on his
visits to Hyderabad. He
did not receive Modi
when the latter visited
Hyderabad in April this
year to launch a few pro-
jects. This was the fifth
time in the last 14 months
that the Chief Minister
did not receive him on
his visit to the state.
In this context, a BRS
representative attending
the all-party meeting on
Saturday raised eye-
brows in political circles.
This came amid indica-
tions of a change in
BRS’s stand towards BJP
and PM Modi.
The first indication
came on June 15 when
BRS president KCR
called Prime Minister
Modi a ‘good friend’.
At a press conference
in Nagpur, KCR had said
that he had nothing per-
sonal against Modi. Call-
ing him a good friend, the
BRS chief said they often
exchange ideas on best
practices.
KCR, who has been
slamming the PM and
BJPfor many months, has
stopped attacking them in
recent days. At public
meetings, he addressed at
three places inTelangana,
he avoided criticizing ei-
ther BJP or Modi and in-
stead targeted Congress.
After a gap of over
two-and-a-half
years, BRS sent its
representatives to a
meeting convened by
the Centre. The first
indication came on
June 15 when BRS
president KCR called
Prime Minister Modi

CRUCIAL WEEK IN STATE BUREAUCRACY
New CS to be appointed, major admn reshuffle on cards
Rajendra Chhabra
Jaipur
he current week
is very impor-
tant and crucial
from the administrative
point of view in the State.
A major administrative
reshuffle is expected by
this weekend. The most
important thing is that
there has to be a change
of guard at the top level
of bureaucracy. A new
Chief Secretary will
come after 1.5 year. The
present CS, Usha Sharma
will retire on June 30.
Along with the ap-
pointment of new CS,
there will also be transfer-
posting of IAS in large
numbers. The senior IAS
officer who becomes CS,
his or her departments
will have to be handed
over to other officers. For
this, a new chain will be
formed. It is believed that
some secretaries, who
have played long innings,
will also be given new re-
sponsibilities. Five IAS,
who are returning this
month include Anandi,
Rajan Vishal, Archana
Singh, Indrajit and Neha.
They will also be posted.
It is said that three IAS
areunhappywiththeirnew
postings in the last two
transfer lists and they are
also trying to change post-
ing.Itispossiblethatinthe
new circumstances, their
efforts will be fruitful.
The date of June 30 is
also significant for two
other reasons. On that
day, the Mehangai Rahat
Camps will be closed. In
this case, the personnel
attached to camps, can be
changed. The second rea-
son is that the Election
Commission has de-
clared the date of June 30
as the last day to shift all
the state employees oc-
cupying the same post for
three years and posted in
their home district.
According to experts,
along with IAS, many
IPS and RAS will be af-
fected by this direction of
the Election Commis-
sion. According to an es-
timate, their total number
can be close to 100.
There will also be trans-
fers of RAS in large num-
bers. It is notable that a
dozen RAS are posted in
the Jaipur Development
Authority for four years.
These influential RAS
remained posted in one
zone or another within
JDA due to approach.
Their departure is also
fixed by June 30. Simi-
larly, in the districts,
about 40 RAS occupying
creamy chairs for three
years, will be changed.

n the world
of photogra-

special niche
that com-

cuteness: animal photogra-

between pets and their hu-

cherished memories that
last a lifetime. Let’s delve
into the captivating world
of pet photography and dis-
cover the magic it brings to
the forefront.
Animals hold a special
place in our hearts, provid-
ing companionship, joy, and
unwavering loyalty. They
become integral members
of our families, sharing
countless moments of love
and happiness.Animal pho-
tography beautifully encap-
sulates these relationships,
showcasing the deep con-
nection and pure affection
that exists between pets and
their owners.
Animal photographers
possess a unique talent for
capturing the essence of
these relationships. They
skillfully freeze moments
of love, playfulness, and
tenderness between pets
and their owners, creating
captivating images that tug
at our heartstrings. Whether
it’s a playful cat, a loyal
dog, or an adorable bunny,
the magic lies in capturing
their personalities and the
joy they bring to their own-
ers’ lives.
A skilled animal photog-
rapher not only understands
the technical aspects of
photography but also has a
genuine love for animals.
Patience, empathy, and a
knack for capturing candid
moments are essential
traits. They create a com-
fortable and safe environ-
ment, allowing pets to relax
and express their true
selves. With a keen eye for

ental health
is an essen-
tial compo-
nent of over-
all well-be-
ing. It affects how we think,
feel, and act. It shapes our abil-
ity to cope with stress, maintain
healthy relationships, and navigate
life’s challenges. Just as physical
health requires attention and care,
our mental and emotional well-
being requires the same. There
were a lot of insights shared
about mental health in a con-
versation with Deepa Ram-
chandani, a Counseling Psy-
chologist in Jaipur.
On being asked about why
it is important to work on the
conscious and subconscious
mind, Deepa said, “Our sub-
conscious mind is six thousand
per cent strong, so our learned
belief system will work
strongly if some rigid
strong belief is coming
from the inner voice.” She also men-
tioned, “It is important to heal that, to
align happy thoughts in both con-
scious and subconscious mind.” Peo-
ple often hesitate to reach out to a
Psychologist. Talking about when
one should think it’s necessary to
get in touch with a professional,
she said, “It is very important to
see the emotions and body
language in this case, and
what I have experienced
in my clients. It’s defi-
nitely a wake-up call
when there are chang-
es in your basic daily
routine and your
emotional manage-
ment gets triggered.”
“When you have an
emotional outburst
even in normal situa-
tions, then it’s definitely
time to connect with a pro-
fessional,” she added. “We are
truly blessed that we have a
lot of options in today’s time,
to come out of anxiety and
stress, some of them being
Meditation, pranic healing,
self-help books, emotional tap-
ping techniques, and journaling
among others,” mentioned Deepa,
when asked about how one can come
out of anxiety and stress.
Being a professional in this field
for more than 8 years, according to
her the secret of happiness is being
present in every moment of life, and
being grateful for anything and eve-
rything you have.
FROM BLUES TO BLISS
Navigating mental health
Our subconscious mind is six thousand per cent
strong, so our learned belief system will work
strongly if some rigid strong belief is coming
from the inner voice.” She also mentioned, “It is
important to heal that, to align happy
thoughts in both conscious and subconscious
mind. It is very important to see the emotions
and body language in this case, and what I
have experienced in my clients. It’s definitely a
wake-up call when there are changes in your
basic daily routine and your emotional
management gets triggered.

Advani's ro-
mantic musi-
cal love sto-
ry 'Satyaprem Ki Katha'
has created excitement
among the audience. Not
only did the film's trailer
captivate everyone with its
magic, but all the songs of
the film also won the hearts
of the viewers. The craze
for this film was evident in
Jaipur when Kartik and Ki-
ara promoted their upcom-
ing film with the launch of
their song on Saturday.
Both of them promoted
the film at the historic site
of Jal Mahal. Fans of the
actors had gathered to
catch a glimpse of Kartik
and Kiara. The audience
who attended the film's
promotional event ap-
peared extremely excited.

had a great time with

sations and entertaining
them. This promotional
event for 'Satyaprem Ki
Katha' became a memora-
ble moment for the actors
as well as for their fans.

enowned Bollywood
Dancer, Singer and Cho-
reographer Terence Lewis
reached Jaipur for the pro-
motion of his music album Dhokha
on Saturday. During this, in a promo-
tion program organized at Clarion
Bella Casa Hotel, music album ac-
tress Preet Anand, producer Rohit
Kumar and music composers Amol
and Abhishek were also present to
interact with the media.
The song that was released 2 days
ago has received huge warmth and
love from the audience, as it crossed
2 million views. The song that de-
picts the beautiful angle of love and
rage starring Terence, Preet Anand
and Rony Singh is directed byAshish
Rai, Produced by Rohit Kumar, Cho-
reographed by Prince Gupta, and
sung by Nakash Aziz with Amol and
Abhishek as the music composers.
'Dhokha' is becoming a staple of
popular music since its inception.
The lyrics describe the pain of be-
trayal and the emotional toll it takes
yet creating a powerful and cathartic
sound that resonates with listeners in
one go. The song stands out because
of its catchy, danceable beat, with
lyrics that describe the pain of infi-
delity and the strength it takes to
move on. The lyrics speak of heart-
break and betrayal, delivering a mes-
sage of defiance and empowerment
that resonated with audiences around
the world. The song features a catchy
and memorable hook, from Terence
Lewis, adding an extra layer of inten-
sity.
When asked why it took Rohit
and the team 2 years to finally
bring this to the audience, the mas-
ter of the art, Lewis said, Rohit
and the team didn't want to serve
this as some regular heartbreaking
song. The core idea was to portray
the emotions yet keep it fun and
have beats that one can dance to.
When I was presented with this
idea, it appeared surreal, but be-
cause of Rohit Kumar's vision, de-
termination and faith in me, we
could execute this beautiful
song.
Further talking about his life and
the challenges faced so far, Terence
exclaimed, It hasn't been a cake-
walk for me. I have had my fair
share of ups and downs. Being born
and brought up in an average middle-
class family, financial stability be-
came my priority. I still ask young-
sters to always choose the practical
things in life and once the desired
target is achieved, aim higher.
The magical afternoon witnessed
the entire team singing the song,
sharing moments of joy. While Ter-
ence was seen teaching some hook-
up steps to the people, Preet was
captured taking selfies with the me-
dia and crowd present.
Songs like 'Dhokha' often explore
universal themes of love, loss, and
redemption, making them a powerful
and enduring part of the musical
landscape.

  • 1. IS BACK! BOSS ADITI NAGAR HISTORIC! That is perhaps the only word that can aptly describe Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s State visit to United States ofAmerica and Egypt. In the context of changing dynamics in Asia-Pacific and the increasing role of India to ensure peace and stability in the region, this visit to the two nations, have been a watershed moment in not just Indian foreign relations and history, but to a great extent, it has been a wa- tershed moment for world history as well! Modi’s State guest honour extended by USA stamps the Indian PM’s domi- nant stature on world stage. Add to this is the fact that USA, which has been extremely hesitant in sharing its tech and that too military tech, has now openly embraced India and agreed on sharing, is a testament to India’s grow- ing global role, its rise to power and PM Modi’s foreign policies and ‘tactics’! On the other hand, PM’s State visit to Egypt, a first official bilateral visit by an Indian Prime Minister in over 26 years, is nothing short of historic. India and Egypt will strengthen their ties in various sectors as various MoUs have been signed. During his two day visit, PM engaged in several programs and meetings. The Egyp- tian angle is extremely crucial from India’s point of view because both WestAsia and NorthAfrica are strategi- cally located regions which thus auto- matically become important to our stra- tegic interests. Thus, the crucial visits of the dynam- ic Prime Minister Narendra Modi has once again put India on a higher footing in world politics and presented the na- tion and its ideas as a viable alternate, and quite frankly a better one, for the world which is witnessing crisis one after the other! BHAGAVAD GITA PERSPECT VE www.firstindia.co.in firstindia.co.in/epapers/jaipur thefirstindia thefirstindia thefirstindia 02 Jaipur, Monday | June 26, 2023 The writer is former Western Army Commander and is currently the State Information Commissioner Lt Gen K J Singh (Retd) THE DEFENCE PARTNERSHIP Defence partnership can flour- ish with genuine and assured life cycle support. It should empower hosts with spares, repairs and overhaul capability. In fact, India can be utilized as a hub for the region. Indians are known for not discarding their equipment in a hurry. T55 tanks, which this author was commissioned on as a young man, continue to be in service. Life cycle exten- sion and retrofitting would be in keeping with Indian ethos. Russia sold India weapons in famous barter deals like bananas-for-guns exchanges. Considering how long the drone deal was delayed due to money issues, Indians should hope that the Russian example will inject pragmatism into their American partners’ working out effective packages, especially for life-cycle support. here has been a lot of hype about the state visit of Indian Prime Minister Naren- dra Modi to the United States. It is being hailed as a defining step ingrowingthestrategicrelation- ship between the two nations. Modi, beside his unprecedented personalpopularity, carriedwith him the legitimate expectations of a rising India to the US. The itinerary indicated how much prominence had been ac- corded to the visit. In the run-up tothevisit, defencedealslikethe purchaseofmuch-delayedPred- ator armed drones worth $3 bil- lionhavebeenfinalized.TheUS has also agreed to a Transfer of Technology (ToT) of FE-414 enginesforIndia’sTejas-2fight- ers. It appears that the visit cov- ered most bases, from formal and informal events to defense deals and publicity. However, it is appropriate to look beyond the hype and get down to brass tacks in our ex- amination. There are a few hard choices that, if made, can really foster a long-term and meaning- ful strategic partnership be- tween the world’s two largest democracies. American expectations are basedonamodelofIndiancom- pliance, if not one of an outright patron-client relationship. De- spite declining US power, the huge remaining asymmetry be- tween two prospective part- ners—especially in defence technology and brute hard pow- er—fuels such expectations. India, on the other hand, is known to be a difficult ally. India fiercely safeguards her strategic autonomy and views herself as practicing a refined version of non-alignment. Indian reticence resulted in giving new custom- ized names to bilateral founda- tion agreements. “Communica- tions Compatibility and Security Agreement” (COMCASA) had to be tweaked and customized to “CommunicationsInteroperabil- ityandSecurityMemorandumof Agreement” (CISMOA) for In- dia. Such complexities, often dubbed bureaucratese, have prompted experts like Ashley Tellis to highlight the limitations of the promised relationship. In- dia would like to be seen as the ultimate balancer, promoting multipolarity. New Delhi insists onpartnershipevenwhenitmay, inthenear-andmid-term,remain the net recipient or beneficiary. The geopolitical necessities of dealing with an aggressive China have forced India closer to the Quad in order to dissuade her aggressive neighbor. India knows the limitations of such relationships and doesn’t expect boots on the ground. It also real- istically appraises the concen- tricity of Washington-led alli- ances, like the Five Eyes alli- ance which complements the Quad, where India is missing. India, withthePakistanithorn in her side, was content to ac- commodate Chinese sensitivi- ties until 2020. Millennials with no memory of the 1962 humili- ation were content to remain focusedongeo-economics.Eco- nomic growth in cooperation with China, as visualized by Deng, seemed to be a fait ac- compli. Xi Jinping, with his tac- tical mindset and brash aggres- sive maneuvers on the Sino-In- dian borders, has destroyed that strategic dream. Self-reliance, decoupling and standing up to bullies are now part of the al- tered discourse in India. While America may have failed to mold India to its expec- tations, Xi has certainly pushed IndiaclosertotheUSbycreating astrategicgulfbetweenhiscoun- try and itsAsian neighbor. In the future, while Washington may not have a fully compliant ally, it can certainly bank on a rising In- dia competing with, countering and balancing Beijing. India has been dependent on Russia for its armaments and munitions since 1971, when Nixon and Kissinger, chaper- oned by Rawalpindi brass, were courting China. Russia (and, before it, the USSR) has been a dependable ally to India, but its capacity in a post-Ukraine sce- nario will be severely circum- scribed. More importantly, the myth of Russian ToT stands ex- posedbythefederation’scontin- ued dependency on extra-Rus- sian sources for critical compo- nents. The arrangement really amounts to licensed production. The first things Russia will need to borrow from India are not just “print to design” (know- how) but also know-why. India has at its disposal probably the largest inventory in a war sce- nario, whether that is a proxy war with Pakistan to the west or a deployment (already prepared for) to ward off China in the north. Unlike many smaller na- tions, India has not only dis- played the nerve to stand up to China but has undertaken quid- pro-quo operations against it, debunking the myth of Chinese invincibility. Indian crews have the magi- cal ability to quickly master equipment and improvise, something that is known as In- dian jugaad. This has been dem- onstratedbyfarinferiorGnatsin Indian hands taking on Sabre jetsandnear-obsolescentCentu- rions creating a graveyard of Patton tanks. Unfortunately, American equipment in Pak hands was on the receiving end. In 1971, Indians once again de- fied the challenges of riverine terrain in a lightning strike. Me- diumtanks,T-55s,fordedboggy fields and PT-76s floated across mighty rivers with helicopters ferrying infantry across. They actually are devoted to and wor- ship their weapons. Ukrainian and other conflicts havebustedreputationforinvin- cibility of many famed weapon systems, mostly due to inept handling. One is reminded of a horse breeder, who mandated compulsory riding tests for his customers. There can surely be vested interest of US military- industrial complex. Sell your equipment, techtocapableusers. SOURCE: FAIR OBSERVER T ISTHEINDO-AMERICANRELATIONSHIPBEING HANDLED WITH INTELLIGENCE? AnuragThakur @ianuragthakur BRS trying to get close to ‘Good Friend’ Modi? Givesmanyindications Agencies Hyderabad The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has ended its boycott of meetings called by the Centre, in yet another indication of its closeness with the BJP ahead of the Telangana Assembly elections. After a gap of over two-and-a-half years, BRS sent its representa- tives to a meeting con- vened by the Centre. Its former MP and vice- chairman of the Telan- gana State Planning Board, B Vinod Kumar on Saturday attended an all-party meeting on the Manipur situation. The BRS has been boycotting the meetings convened by the Centre since November 2020. Chief Minister K Chan- drasekhar Rao had also skipped the meetings chaired by Prime Minis- ter Narendra Modi. KCR had skipped the NITI Aayog meeting chaired by the prime minister last month. He had also boycotted the NITI Aayog meeting in August last year as a mark of protest against the Central government’s “discriminatory” attitude towards the states. In a letter to the PM, KCR wrote that the Cen- tre is not treating states as equal partners in a collec- tive effort to make India a strong and developed. KCR had also stopped receiving the PM on his visits to Hyderabad. He did not receive Modi when the latter visited Hyderabad in April this year to launch a few pro- jects. This was the fifth time in the last 14 months that the Chief Minister did not receive him on his visit to the state. In this context, a BRS representative attending the all-party meeting on Saturday raised eye- brows in political circles. This came amid indica- tions of a change in BRS’s stand towards BJP and PM Modi. The first indication came on June 15 when BRS president KCR called Prime Minister Modi a ‘good friend’. At a press conference in Nagpur, KCR had said that he had nothing per- sonal against Modi. Call- ing him a good friend, the BRS chief said they often exchange ideas on best practices. KCR, who has been slamming the PM and BJPfor many months, has stopped attacking them in recent days. At public meetings, he addressed at three places inTelangana, he avoided criticizing ei- ther BJP or Modi and in- stead targeted Congress. After a gap of over two-and-a-half years, BRS sent its representatives to a meeting convened by the Centre. The first indication came on June 15 when BRS president KCR called Prime Minister Modi a ‘Good Friend’ . “A complete flop show,” Assam CM on Opposition meet ANI Guwahati Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday said that it was just the al- lies of the Congress party, hinting at the NCP and Uddhav Thackeray’s Sena faction, who “fear” PM Narendra Modi’s re- turn to power in the next Lok Sabha elections which attended the Oppo- sition meeting in Patna. “No notable Opposi- tion leader had gone to attend the Opposition meeting held in Patna on June 23. “Only those leaders went there who have some kind of alli- ance with Congress or who are afraid that if PM Modi becomes PM for the third time, then there will be problems for them,” he said. The BJP leader termed the meeting as a complete flop show. “It was a complete flop show,” CM Biswa said referring to the Opposi- tion meeting attended at least by 15 political par- ties in Patna on Friday. He said Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik and Andhra Pradesh CM Jag- an Mohan Reddy were among the Opposition leaders who did not at- tend the meeting.

CRUCIAL WEEK IN STATE BUREAUCRACY New CS to be appointed, major admn reshuffle on cards Rajendra Chhabra Jaipur he current week is very impor- tant and crucial from the administrative point of view in the State. A major administrative reshuffle is expected by this weekend. The most important thing is that there has to be a change of guard at the top level of bureaucracy. A new Chief Secretary will come after 1.5 year. The present CS, Usha Sharma will retire on June 30. Along with the ap- pointment of new CS, there will also be transfer- posting of IAS in large numbers. The senior IAS officer who becomes CS, his or her departments will have to be handed over to other officers. For this, a new chain will be formed. It is believed that some secretaries, who have played long innings, will also be given new re- sponsibilities. Five IAS, who are returning this month include Anandi, Rajan Vishal, Archana Singh, Indrajit and Neha. They will also be posted. It is said that three IAS areunhappywiththeirnew postings in the last two transfer lists and they are also trying to change post- ing.Itispossiblethatinthe new circumstances, their efforts will be fruitful. The date of June 30 is also significant for two other reasons. On that day, the Mehangai Rahat Camps will be closed. In this case, the personnel attached to camps, can be changed. The second rea- son is that the Election Commission has de- clared the date of June 30 as the last day to shift all the state employees oc- cupying the same post for three years and posted in their home district. According to experts, along with IAS, many IPS and RAS will be af- fected by this direction of the Election Commis- sion. According to an es- timate, their total number can be close to 100. There will also be trans- fers of RAS in large num- bers. It is notable that a dozen RAS are posted in the Jaipur Development Authority for four years. These influential RAS remained posted in one zone or another within JDA due to approach. Their departure is also fixed by June 30. Simi- larly, in the districts, about 40 RAS occupying creamy chairs for three years, will be changed. During this, in a promo- tion program organized at Clarion Bella Casa Hotel, music album ac- tress Preet Anand, producer Rohit Kumar and music composers Amol and Abhishek were also present to interact with the media. The song that was released 2 days ago has received huge warmth and love from the audience, as it crossed 2 million views. The song that de- picts the beautiful angle of love and rage starring Terence, Preet Anand and Rony Singh is directed byAshish Rai, Produced by Rohit Kumar, Cho- reographed by Prince Gupta, and sung by Nakash Aziz with Amol and Abhishek as the music composers. 'Dhokha' is becoming a staple of popular music since its inception. The lyrics describe the pain of be- trayal and the emotional toll it takes yet creating a powerful and cathartic sound that resonates with listeners in one go. The song stands out because of its catchy, danceable beat, with lyrics that describe the pain of infi- delity and the strength it takes to move on. The lyrics speak of heart- break and betrayal, delivering a mes- sage of defiance and empowerment that resonated with audiences around the world. The song features a catchy and memorable hook, from Terence Lewis, adding an extra layer of inten- sity. When asked why it took Rohit and the team 2 years to finally bring this to the audience, the mas- ter of the art, Lewis said, Rohit and the team didn't want to serve this as some regular heartbreaking song. The core idea was to portray the emotions yet keep it fun and have beats that one can dance to. When I was presented with this idea, it appeared surreal, but be- cause of Rohit Kumar's vision, de- termination and faith in me, we could execute this beautiful song. Further talking about his life and the challenges faced so far, Terence exclaimed, It hasn't been a cake- walk for me. I have had my fair share of ups and downs. Being born and brought up in an average middle- class family, financial stability be- came my priority. I still ask young- sters to always choose the practical things in life and once the desired target is achieved, aim higher.
