How To Write A Narrative Essay On Social Work
Narrative Throughout this interview process I've learned that this profession is not for everyone, one has to have compassion for people and their
situations. I think that social work really isn't credited enough. Social workers are seen as more than just that to their clients, they're seen as heroes. I
was surprised to learn that it not only impacts the client's but the social worker as well. During my interview with Dr. Evans she spoke so
passionately about her work and the stories she has told me about the impact some of her clients have made on her, it just excited me for when I get the
chance to go through that. We talked a lot about diversity and understanding the client, it reminded of what we discussed in class about respecting

It had been the file... The cold enveloped around the bare emptiness, filling me with claustrophobia. A slight nimbus of light clung to me, unraveling
sheer darkness while I waited for the hour hand of the clock to creep towards eight. I stared at the badge, glistening golden.
Exiting the car, the ocean breeze travelled with fear. Falling backward, the grazing against my skin left stains of the pure blood on the concrete,
losing grip of the file. The papers crawled out of the folder, my eye fixed up the words "this criminal..." and I quickly retrieved the paper before the
wind spread the paper violently across the dark bayside. The night fell, darkening to pitch, suddenly interrupted by a luminous shade of light.

I nodded uncertainly, but could not make eye contact. "He was scum. I knew he killed... But I knew we couldn't prove anything so..." In the silence, I

Notions of reality were questioned. Instinctively my body cast away from this creature.
A body. Lay in front of my bulging eyes...
Even the painful blinking of eyes didn't move from the dark outside. I thought how friendship and Police had always assumed they could coexist with

Breaking from the trance, I focused on the looming in the lights. The clicking of suitcases open replaced the love that naturally resided in my heart. The

In that moment I realised I had to decide between this file: few documents that were coated with magic. This file was a cure to stop an ongoing murder

School was never truly something that was extremely hard for me. I have maintained at a minimum, a 3.0 GPA or higher since 4th grade. I have had a
few struggling points in school, but everyone has those moments; no one is perfect, but everyone has that one point in time, whether it is school related
or even in everyday life.
My struggle point began during my freshman year of high school in my Spanish II class. Even though I had taken Spanish I, it failed to stick in my
brain. So I began cheating on my tests, merely to breeze by with no remorse until one dreaded day I took the answers from the wrong person and
completely failed my test. At that moment that is when I realized, cheating was not for me and it is the wrong thing to do, so I changed...show more

I began changing my study habits; I found out that the best way for me to study was to read all my notes and handouts at least three times every day. I
even re–annotated all my handouts every time I read it, in case there were some things that I may have missed the first time. As time went on I felt
I needed more than just reading my notes so I began joining in study groups with people who were willing to help me with anything that I may
have needed. I realized that meditation was needed to so I started going to the library just so I could find peace and quiet and actually be able to
think at a better pace. I have learned that there are so many ways to study and research is another way that can be beneficial; therefore I decided to
start researching things that related to my topic of study. My parent told me to plan a specific time to study when I am most alert that way I will not
get tired quickly and that has helped me throughout my school years, I still have a certain time that I study and do my homework so I do not
overwhelm myself. Furthermore, my parents give me tips that helped them study when they were in school. My mom said to always eat healthy and

"No! Please! Elizabeth!" I could hear my mother screaming my name, being held back by doctors and nurses, as I was taken away from the
hospital by the Patrol. It was May 17, 2070, the day of my birth, and I had just been separated from my sole and biological family. I was taken to a
room down the hall and placed in a gigantic tube that flickered with bright lights. Exasperated, I closed my eyes and lay on the floor of the tube.
Suddenly, there was a loud beeping noise and when I opened my eyes, the noise was gone–but so was the hospital.
The sandy land that surrounded me was bare and flat, and a colossal wire fence surrounded all of it. I was trapped. A camouflaged jeep zoomed by

It was a dark and windy day in October. The trees were dancing in the strong breeze and all the Tens, Elevens, and Twelves were scheduled for
individual training tests. I was scheduled for a 9:00 A.M. land mine agility test. In order to pass the test, I would need to cross an entire field without
stepping on an artificial land mine. As I stepped onto the platform, the clock started to count down. 10...should I just run for my life...9...or should I
carefully step around the field...8...maybe they didn't even hide any land mines...7...oh of course they did! I found myself looking around at the others
waiting for their own tests, and as I scanned the crowd, my eyes fell on a small girl with a freckled–face and hazelnut eyes. She was staring right back
at me and looked like she was giving me some type of signal. She kept on opening her palms up and then closing them into a fist over and over
again. I realized, just before the timer went off, that the girl was telling me to look out for the faint, blinking lights in some of the dirt mounds that
showed that there was a land mine hidden there. I ran across the field, looking closely at every mound of dirt that seemed to have something hidden
inside. Finally, as I neared the end of the field, the same little girl that had given me signals screamed, "Watch out! Behind you!" from the sidelines. If
it weren't for her, I would have

I was raised by a single mother, but my home was filled with family. My mother, sister, and I shared a room with two twin

five cousins, and grandparents shared the two remaining bedrooms. In total, there were thirteen people sharing a three–bedroom, one–bathroom home.
For the children, the nonstop playtime and carefree memories mitigated the obstacles that came with our socioeconomic insufficiency. For me, our
tight–knit family and living situation made it much easier to overcome the absence of my father.
My father represented many of the negative stereotypes that Mexican Americans and Mexican immigrants have to combat. He immigrated to the
United States as a young adult and fell into a life of criminal activity during our city's booming methamphetamine trade. His choices had an adverse

Rejecting the criminal element in our community required a deliberate choice to exclude myself from the majority and often made me feel left

but their own education levels and unfamiliarity with the college admission process restricted the amount of guidance they were able to provide.
Counselors at my high school were overloaded by high dropout rates and unable to focus on college bound students. It was the small acts of support
and encouragement that ultimately got me to overcome my inhibitions and fears of the unknown and pursue a bachelor's degree: a friend who told
me what the SAT was, a teacher who explained the FAFSA and college deadlines. These processes seem basic to some, but can be overwhelming to a

When I was 6 years old I moved to Santa Maria California and that was one of the biggest changes for me. I was born and raised and a small town

Narrative Essay On A Journey
Everybody is on or has been on a journey before. Being on a journey is very important because it gives you a goal or task that you want to
accomplish. When you go on a journey you find is yourself through the experiences and obstacles that life throws at you. Throughout a journey, you
are taught life lessons and have the capability of applying that new knowledge for the future for a better outcome. Sometimes, these life lessons
challenge you and you ultimately succeed at the end. For the past 5 months, I have been on a journey as I have been learning a new instrument that I've
always wanted to learn since I was a little kid. Being on this path has taught me many life lessons and how to stay focused on what really matters.
My interest in guitar started when my friend used to bring his guitar everyday and I would always want to play but didn't know how. I would always
ask him to teach me how to play but I didn't know any of the chords and notes, therefore, I just gave up on attempting to play this new instrument.
However, guitar is an elective that's offered here at Kennedy, so I decided to take the class. I noticed that my friend was getting better the more he
practiced, so I decided to join the class to learn the basics and get started on this new journey. At first, it was difficult to understand the notes
because I didn't have any musical background to help assist me for my own benefit. However, I began to focus more in class to learn the basics day by
day. Overtime, I learned that you can't learn guitar in one day and you need a lot of practice to get better. I also discovered how progress is important
to reach my end goal.
I stayed on this journey to learn guitar because playing guitar is a special skill that I want to learn. n my free time or when I'm bored, I could play
guitar while learning new and more songs to play. As a result, I will eventually and gradually get more advanced the more I learn. Another reason I
stayed on this journey is because I want to want to challenge myself to do something I thought I could never do. When I was little, I always thought
that I would never be able to play an instrument because it was too difficult to learn. Therefore, this is why I wanted to learn guitar in the

How To Write A Narrative Essay About Theatre
Theatres are usually cold, waiting to be warmed by the shadows that dances across the stage, who then breathes electric air that fills the lungs of

How To Write A Personal Narrative Essay
From a very young age, I learned that one word held much more weight in my family than others: "money." My family's priorities revolved around
bills and expenses, and the money that we were seemingly always lacking to pay them. My mother, who was diagnosed with severe obsessive
compulsive disorder before my birth, was unable to work, leaving my father to support our family with his insufficient truck–driving wage. The stress
caused by these financial issues, in addition to my mother's mental condition and my father's alcoholism, led to constant fighting in our household that
ultimately caused my parents to separate the year before I began kindergarten. My brother and I stayed with my mother despite her condition.
When I reached elementary school, my mother never cared very much about my attendance. In the negligent fashion that I became accustomed to,
poor grades or failure to turn in assignments also held no consequences for me. Despite my bad attendance and the lack of parental authority in my
early education, it was soon evident that I was academically gifted; I enjoyed learning and my grades had already begun to surpass...show more

Narrative About Moving
Since 2012, I have moved 3 times. The first move was definitely the hardest of all the moves. My entire life was turned upside down right before
high school. I was happy to move, but it was a complete change. I had to relearn how to live, and I suddenly had to be the one to care for my younger
siblings. From the ages of 8– 14, I lived in a very volatile home. Coming home from school, I never knew if it was going to be a quiet day in my
house or if the entire house would be engulfed in screaming. I dreaded the weekends, that meant that everyone was going to be home. Everyone
home meant that things could easily go up to flames in just a millisecond. I tried my best to never be home, I would spend the days with my
friends. I knew that when I got home there was a 90% chance of everyone fighting. One day in the summer of 2012, things got too heated, and my
mom finally decided to move. We packed up everything in a few hours while my stepfather was at work. We moved into my best friend's home for a

Bags and bags of packages were traveling to the opposite side of the world during the summer of 2009, and it was time to get settled down again, in an

Three weeks later, school in elementary was starting. It was awkward for me to go to school, due to the reason of me being shy and still not used to
the new environment, I did not know any English at that time, and wasn't able to communicate with anyone, I was only capable of communicating

How To Write A Narrative Essay On Middle School
Drama, cliques, and awkwardness make middle school most people's least favorite time. Nothing can make it any worse than it already is. Unless of
course, one switches schools right before eighth grade.
Before my eighth grade year, I switched from a small charter school in Inver Grove Heights where I had gone since Kindergarten, to Blackhawk Middle
School, a much bigger public school in Eagan. I didn't want to leave my old school behind at all. Class sizes there were about fifty, and I had the
same friends since Kindergarten. Every inch of the school was familiar to me. I knew all the teachers, and my mother was even friends with many of

of the greatest challenges I've experienced. The change was drastic, and it was very hard for me to adjust....show more content...
Just walking into the school was overwhelming. Compared to my previous school, it was massive. Everyone already had friends from their previous

the matter was the fact that there was a different schedule every other day. I didn't realize that until first period on the second day of school, when a
rather unfriendly girl told me to get out of her seat.
During my first weeks at school, I kept my head down and didn't talk much. I didn't participate in class out of fear of drawing attention to myself and
was too shy to approach anyone.
Things started to get better when my English teacher made an announcement about the beginning of Declam season, a middle school speech

How To Write A Narrative Essay On Social Work

  • 1. How To Write A Narrative Essay On Social Work Narrative Throughout this interview process I've learned that this profession is not for everyone, one has to have compassion for people and their situations. I think that social work really isn't credited enough. Social workers are seen as more than just that to their clients, they're seen as heroes. I was surprised to learn that it not only impacts the client's but the social worker as well. During my interview with Dr. Evans she spoke so passionately about her work and the stories she has told me about the impact some of her clients have made on her, it just excited me for when I get the chance to go through that. We talked a lot about diversity and understanding the client, it reminded of what we discussed in class about respecting whatever Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. How To Write A Narrative Essay It had been the file... The cold enveloped around the bare emptiness, filling me with claustrophobia. A slight nimbus of light clung to me, unraveling sheer darkness while I waited for the hour hand of the clock to creep towards eight. I stared at the badge, glistening golden. Exiting the car, the ocean breeze travelled with fear. Falling backward, the grazing against my skin left stains of the pure blood on the concrete, losing grip of the file. The papers crawled out of the folder, my eye fixed up the words "this criminal..." and I quickly retrieved the paper before the wind spread the paper violently across the dark bayside. The night fell, darkening to pitch, suddenly interrupted by a luminous shade of light. The surge of light pierced...show more content... People are frauds." I nodded uncertainly, but could not make eye contact. "He was scum. I knew he killed... But I knew we couldn't prove anything so..." In the silence, I murmured "... so your alone on the law?" Notions of reality were questioned. Instinctively my body cast away from this creature. A body. Lay in front of my bulging eyes... Even the painful blinking of eyes didn't move from the dark outside. I thought how friendship and Police had always assumed they could coexist with each other. *** Breaking from the trance, I focused on the looming in the lights. The clicking of suitcases open replaced the love that naturally resided in my heart. The sheen of pristine newness convinced me. In the still wonder lucid tones blended with citrine and manila over this oil–slick surface of the water. A fluorescence of brightness sparkled like a witch's cauldron, throughout the city. The high–rise building gleamed out like the stars.
  • 3. In that moment I realised I had to decide between this file: few documents that were coated with magic. This file was a cure to stop an ongoing murder mystery. The importance this file had to the criminal and my friend. It was a life–changing document determining their life and death. The souls of the body spoke to me haunting my inner feelings. It had been this bayside... The work had all come down to this hour, where the file lay along my innocence. It was the end of ' a complete mystery'. The quiet that permeated Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. How To Write A Personal Narrative Essay School was never truly something that was extremely hard for me. I have maintained at a minimum, a 3.0 GPA or higher since 4th grade. I have had a few struggling points in school, but everyone has those moments; no one is perfect, but everyone has that one point in time, whether it is school related or even in everyday life. My struggle point began during my freshman year of high school in my Spanish II class. Even though I had taken Spanish I, it failed to stick in my brain. So I began cheating on my tests, merely to breeze by with no remorse until one dreaded day I took the answers from the wrong person and completely failed my test. At that moment that is when I realized, cheating was not for me and it is the wrong thing to do, so I changed...show more content... I began changing my study habits; I found out that the best way for me to study was to read all my notes and handouts at least three times every day. I even re–annotated all my handouts every time I read it, in case there were some things that I may have missed the first time. As time went on I felt I needed more than just reading my notes so I began joining in study groups with people who were willing to help me with anything that I may have needed. I realized that meditation was needed to so I started going to the library just so I could find peace and quiet and actually be able to think at a better pace. I have learned that there are so many ways to study and research is another way that can be beneficial; therefore I decided to start researching things that related to my topic of study. My parent told me to plan a specific time to study when I am most alert that way I will not get tired quickly and that has helped me throughout my school years, I still have a certain time that I study and do my homework so I do not overwhelm myself. Furthermore, my parents give me tips that helped them study when they were in school. My mom said to always eat healthy and get a good night's sleep; it helps you to stay focused and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. How To Write A Narrative Essay On Military Life "No! Please! Elizabeth!" I could hear my mother screaming my name, being held back by doctors and nurses, as I was taken away from the hospital by the Patrol. It was May 17, 2070, the day of my birth, and I had just been separated from my sole and biological family. I was taken to a room down the hall and placed in a gigantic tube that flickered with bright lights. A camouflaged jeep zoomed by almost running over me. It pulled over and a large, stocky man...show more content... It was a dark and windy day in October. The trees were dancing in the strong breeze and all the Tens, Elevens, and Twelves were scheduled for individual training tests. I was scheduled for a 9:00 A.M. land mine agility test. In order to pass the test, I would need to cross an entire field without stepping on an artificial land mine. As I stepped onto the platform, the clock started to count down. 10...should I just run for my life...9...or should I carefully step around the field...8...maybe they didn't even hide any land mines...7...oh of course they did! I found myself looking around at the others waiting for their own tests, and as I scanned the crowd, my eyes fell on a small girl with a freckled–face and hazelnut eyes. She was staring right back at me and looked like she was giving me some type of signal. She kept on opening her palms up and then closing them into a fist over and over again. I realized, just before the timer went off, that the girl was telling me to look out for the faint, blinking lights in some of the dirt mounds that showed that there was a land mine hidden there. I ran across the field, looking closely at every mound of dirt that seemed to have something hidden inside. Finally, as I neared the end of the field, the same little girl that had given me signals screamed, "Watch out! Behind you!" from the sidelines. If it weren't for her, I would have Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. How To Write A Personal Narrative Essay I was raised by a single mother, but my home was filled with family. My mother, sister, and I shared a room with two twin –size beds. My aunts, uncles, five cousins, and grandparents shared the two remaining bedrooms. In total, there were thirteen people sharing a three–bedroom, one–bathroom home. For the children, the nonstop playtime and carefree memories mitigated the obstacles that came with our socioeconomic insufficiency. For me, our tight–knit family and living situation made it much easier to overcome the absence of my father. My father represented many of the negative stereotypes that Mexican Americans and Mexican immigrants have to combat. He immigrated to the United States as a young adult and fell into a life of criminal activity during our city's booming methamphetamine trade. His choices had an adverse impact on not only my family, but also our community at large. I was somewhat sheltered from learning too much about my...show more content... Rejecting the criminal element in our community required a deliberate choice to exclude myself from the majority and often made me feel left out. Many of my peers criticized me and called me stuck up or "white washed" because of the choices I made. My family fully supported my goals, but their own education levels and unfamiliarity with the college admission process restricted the amount of guidance they were able to provide. Counselors at my high school were overloaded by high dropout rates and unable to focus on college bound students. It was the small acts of support and encouragement that ultimately got me to overcome my inhibitions and fears of the unknown and pursue a bachelor's degree: a friend who told me what the SAT was, a teacher who explained the FAFSA and college deadlines. These processes seem basic to some, but can be overwhelming to a first–generation student to the point where it becomes easier to put it off or quit Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. How To Write A Personal Narrative Essay When I was 6 years old I moved to Santa Maria California and that was one of the biggest changes for me. I was born and raised and a small town called San Juan Pinas in Mexico for 5 years. My family comes from a very poor town and I was taught to value every single thing that was given to me. Coming here was something new to me and very different from where I come from. The culture where I come from was very strict and my family expected a lot form me. I had to adjust the culture, the language, and the big city. I entered in first grade in the middle of the school year in 2005. Learning English was a very difficult language for me since it was my third language. My first language was mixteco, an indigenous language, then I learned some little...show more content... My mother had to go to work every day in order to provide food and shelter for me and my siblings, my sister and little brother. So every day I had to wake up and my grandpa would take me to school. I loved school, ever since I remember I loved learning and that's the reason that kept on trying every day waking with an illusion of learning something new every day. My mother had to work in the fields for about 13–14 years picking strawberries. My parents were separated and my siblings and I stayed with my mother. I realized to value every single day and pushed myself even harder in my education because if not it would all be in vain. My biggest goal for me was to graduate in every school such as in elementary, junior high, and high school. When I entered in junior high I realized that I got very interest in mathematics and in art. My English and Spanish skills became better as I entered in Santa Maria High School. As I got older I had to become responsible for the house work and chores but also to take care of my brother. My mom told me that I was very helpful for her since I knew three languages and to translate for Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Narrative Essay On A Journey Everybody is on or has been on a journey before. Being on a journey is very important because it gives you a goal or task that you want to accomplish. When you go on a journey you find is yourself through the experiences and obstacles that life throws at you. Throughout a journey, you are taught life lessons and have the capability of applying that new knowledge for the future for a better outcome. Sometimes, these life lessons challenge you and you ultimately succeed at the end. For the past 5 months, I have been on a journey as I have been learning a new instrument that I've always wanted to learn since I was a little kid. Being on this path has taught me many life lessons and how to stay focused on what really matters. My interest in guitar started when my friend used to bring his guitar everyday and I would always want to play but didn't know how. I would always ask him to teach me how to play but I didn't know any of the chords and notes, therefore, I just gave up on attempting to play this new instrument. However, guitar is an elective that's offered here at Kennedy, so I decided to take the class. I noticed that my friend was getting better the more he practiced, so I decided to join the class to learn the basics and get started on this new journey. At first, it was difficult to understand the notes because I didn't have any musical background to help assist me for my own benefit. However, I began to focus more in class to learn the basics day by day. Overtime, I learned that you can't learn guitar in one day and you need a lot of practice to get better. I also discovered how progress is important to reach my end goal. I stayed on this journey to learn guitar because playing guitar is a special skill that I want to learn. n my free time or when I'm bored, I could play guitar while learning new and more songs to play. As a result, I will eventually and gradually get more advanced the more I learn. Another reason I stayed on this journey is because I want to want to challenge myself to do something I thought I could never do. When I was little, I always thought that I would never be able to play an instrument because it was too difficult to learn. Therefore, this is why I wanted to learn guitar in the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. How To Write A Narrative Essay About Theatre Theatres are usually cold, waiting to be warmed by the shadows that dances across the stage, who then breathes electric air that fills the lungs of the dark, empty spaces, with a new vibrant energy that is like no other. Walking across the worn train track towards NOCCA (New Orleans Center for Creative Arts) on my first day, I got that same feeling that the theaters get when there are performers in them; I realize that I was breathing air that renewed my soul and in that instance I knew what I wanted to do for the rest of my life and that was to perform. On my first day of my new journey, I witness these talented kids perform at Lupin Theatre (NOCCA's main performing space), and I have never seen anything like it; they were so poised, sharp,...show more content... However, it was time for the upperclassmen to watch the fresh new talent that was auditioned, selected, and chosen to be the next wave of students to perfect their craft at NOCCA. Nevertheless, it was then time for the underclassmen to get up and perform on Lupin stage, including the sophomores and the new level one freshman to sing a song from their ever expanding repertoire. Who wouldn't be more nervous to perform in front of people you don't know, knowing they were judging you and having to go after such incredible trained and natural talents. First, the sophomores went, who had previously experience what the freshman are experiencing now only a year ago, so they understand the nerves we have about performing on the first day of NOCCA, most of the sophomore went and sang with ease and candor, you could tell that they were in a position of training themselves for their future careers in the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. How To Write A Personal Narrative Essay From a very young age, I learned that one word held much more weight in my family than others: "money." My family's priorities revolved around bills and expenses, and the money that we were seemingly always lacking to pay them. My mother, who was diagnosed with severe obsessive compulsive disorder before my birth, was unable to work, leaving my father to support our family with his insufficient truck–driving wage. The stress caused by these financial issues, in addition to my mother's mental condition and my father's alcoholism, led to constant fighting in our household that ultimately caused my parents to separate the year before I began kindergarten. My brother and I stayed with my mother despite her condition. When I reached elementary school, my mother never cared very much about my attendance. In the negligent fashion that I became accustomed to, poor grades or failure to turn in assignments also held no consequences for me. Despite my bad attendance and the lack of parental authority in my early education, it was soon evident that I was academically gifted; I enjoyed learning and my grades had already begun to surpass...show more content... I became more self–motivated than ever, and I was maintaining perfect grades with near perfect attendance by eighth grade. My classmates, though typically kind about it, could never truly understand the depth of my devotion to school. To my knowledge, none of them had grown up in the way I had, where every family decision was based entirely on money, where days were spent dreaming of a better future. As I began to consider college, I worried incessantly about the costs I would face and sometimes wondered if it was even a possibility. To this day, I am extremely thankful to my councilor for informing me that anyone can go to college, despite their circumstances. She explained scholarships, loans, and financial assistance to me, making my goals seem more obtainable than Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Narrative About Moving Since 2012, I have moved 3 times. The first move was definitely the hardest of all the moves. My entire life was turned upside down right before high school. I was happy to move, but it was a complete change. I had to relearn how to live, and I suddenly had to be the one to care for my younger siblings. From the ages of 8– 14, I lived in a very volatile home. Coming home from school, I never knew if it was going to be a quiet day in my house or if the entire house would be engulfed in screaming. I dreaded the weekends, that meant that everyone was going to be home. Everyone home meant that things could easily go up to flames in just a millisecond. I tried my best to never be home, I would spend the days with my friends. I knew that when I got home there was a 90% chance of everyone fighting. One day in the summer of 2012, things got too heated, and my mom finally decided to move. We packed up everything in a few hours while my stepfather was at work. We moved into my best friend's home for a few days until we found an apartment within the school district to move into. The house we moved out of was a two story, five bedroom house. The apartment was only three bedrooms. Five of us were moving...show more content... My life was suddenly changing right before one of the biggest changes: high school. I had more things to worry about than other high schoolers. I had to figure out how I was going to get home, how I was going to get the house clean before my mom got home, how I was going to get dinner started, all on top of getting my homework done. Due to this, I wasn't as serious with my grades. I let them fall even though I knew I could do better. I was just way too busy to focus on school when there were more important things to focus on– my family. I slowly found out how to balance everything to get my grades up. I had to learn how to balance my life to make myself happy while keeping up my Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. A Narrative Essay About Moving To A New Country Bags and bags of packages were traveling to the opposite side of the world during the summer of 2009, and it was time to get settled down again, in an unfamiliar environment. It was strange when I took my first step into this new country––a place where I have never been to before. Three weeks later, school in elementary was starting. It was awkward for me to go to school, due to the reason of me being shy and still not used to the new environment, I did not know any English at that time, and wasn't able to communicate with anyone, I was only capable of communicating through my body languages. It was stressful not being able to say things that I wanted to say, but people were nice to me, and as time goes by, I'm starting to learning English little by little....show more content... • 15. How To Write A Narrative Essay On Middle School Drama, cliques, and awkwardness make middle school most people's least favorite time. Nothing can make it any worse than it already is. Unless of course, one switches schools right before eighth grade. Before my eighth grade year, I switched from a small charter school in Inver Grove Heights where I had gone since Kindergarten, to Blackhawk Middle School, a much bigger public school in Eagan. I didn't want to leave my old school behind at all. Class sizes there were about fifty, and I had the same friends since Kindergarten. Every inch of the school was familiar to me. I knew all the teachers, and my mother was even friends with many of them. After eight years, I had developed a sort of sixth sense about the school and everyone in it. My transition to Blackhawk Middle School was one of the greatest challenges I've experienced. The change was drastic, and it was very hard for me to adjust....show more content... Just walking into the school was overwhelming. Compared to my previous school, it was massive. Everyone already had friends from their previous two years in middle school. The system of changing rooms for every class was alien to me, so of course, I got lost quite a bit. Further complicating the matter was the fact that there was a different schedule every other day. I didn't realize that until first period on the second day of school, when a rather unfriendly girl told me to get out of her seat. During my first weeks at school, I kept my head down and didn't talk much. I didn't participate in class out of fear of drawing attention to myself and was too shy to approach anyone. Things started to get better when my English teacher made an announcement about the beginning of Declam season, a middle school speech competition. At my old school, there was nothing of the sort. Curious, I attended the information session and was immediately Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 17. Many people have told me that I tend to overreact to things. My sister has told me that that's an understatement. I agree. The fact that my Asian parents sometimes tell me to be more relaxed about my Korean school grade says it all. So of course, among my list of anxiety–givers, middle school is one of the top few. Undoubtedly, the aforementioned many people must think of me as a drama queen when it comes to academics. But they should count themselves as lucky to have missed speculating how I first reacted to the prospect of attending middle school. My view on middle school was first formed at the heads–up trip, which was a quite thrilling occasion for nearly everyone in my grade. Near the end of my last year in elementary school, ...show more content... "That building is a maze!" I exclaimed. "How the heck are we gonna to get to classes on time? I couldn't even memorize the map." The arrival of our mailed schedules did not calm my frenzy of creating reasons to panic about middle school. "We're gonna have seven classes a day. Seven! That's seven times the homework, and seven times thirty minutes equals three and a half hours of homework," I declared despairingly. "And where's the lunch? Why isn't there a lunch on the schedule? Oh insert Korean swear, what if they don't let us eat lunch in middle school!" I groaned. At that time, it did not occur to me that a kitchen would not exist within a lunch–less school. Finally, the dreaded day arrived. Now, I must confess that the only clear memories I have of that school day is coloring in my schedule and watching a magic trick performed by my science teacher during the first block. Once I came home, I found my mother waiting in the kitchen with snacks, smiles, and an intense attentiveness to my face. "How was your day?" she asked me in her heavily accented English. This was a quite an inconvenient action for my mother to take, since she possessed an obvious discomfort at speaking the language. I also harbored a secret discomfort at listening to her Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. How To Write A Personal Narrative Essay The day I separated from my mother to live with my father in the United States marked the beginning of a downward spiral in my life, or so I thought. Coming from Vietnam at the age of seven, I experienced a cultural shock. For starters, I did not speak English, which made interacting with other children my age a difficult task. But to my advantage, speaking and knowing Vietnamese is an asset I have come to eventually appreciate. However, life at home and my relationship with my father or lack of one was hard for me to understand at such a young age as I was only reunited with him a week before I left Vietnam. I began to shield myself from this foreign world around me and found solace in our backyard swimming pool. I thought of my mother constantly. I distinctly remember the times he would ask for food and a blanket while recounting memories of his younger days as he held my hand. His stories became mutters and then, silence. His wheelchair sat by the window, as George laid in his bed majority of the day. I wanted to do more for him, but I was only a nursing assistant. • 19. How To Write A Narrative Essay About Fishing The most precious childhood treasure was a green bass spinnerbait. This piece of ordinary fishing tackle was more than a good bass jig to me. It began a great bonding time with my father's dad and him. Now me and my father experience the same type bonding that he experienced with his dad. When I was 5 years old, my dad introduced me to fishing. We went to Walmart, and he let me pick out a brand new rod and reel, with some worms to fish with. We went out to a local pond to teach me. On the trip, I learned a few beginner skills. He taught me to cast a the pole, how to put the worm on the hook right, and be able to fix my pole if I broke the line. How To Write A Narrative Essay About Immigration Standing in the middle of the airport's terminal gate, waiting to hear the voice of the anonymous lady in the microphone to announce about the time the gate opens to enter the airplane. Although we have traveled before, this time seems different. As a family, we waited there for forty –five minutes, and I spent each minute of them saying my goodbyes to the place where I spent all my teenage years there. A place that I grew up in, made life friendships, and finished my high school degree in its schools. During that time, I sat beside my mom and looked at my twin brothers playing with their toys in front of me. How naive and innocent they looked made me feel relief for a while because at least they will not have to deal with our immigration. Then, I turned to my mom to talk to her, but I saw tears on her face. I did not know what to do, the whole day I showed them that I am strong and can handle the situation however my mother's tears break me.
