Ferris Cheng implemented a "Team Huddle" initiative to motivate his supply chain team to work more collaboratively. The initiative uses a points system where team members earn points for helping others and contributing to team goals, with opportunities to be named "Superstar of the Month" or "Superstar of the Year" as top contributors. The team can also win a reward if they meet their annual cost savings goal. Through collaborative goal-setting and tracking progress via a dashboard, the initiative has already positively impacted how the team works together.

Corporate Supply Chain Team
Huddle Initiative
F
erris Cheng is the manager
of NSAM Regional Support
Services within Supply Chain. In
an effort to create a more friendly and
engaging environment and to give his
team more positive ways to think about
achieving goals, he implemented the
“Team Huddle” initiative.
The goal of the “Team
Huddle” initiative is to
put a system in place that
will motivate the team to
work together. Historically,
individual contributors
tend to keep their work
to themselves with
little interaction among
team members. The “Team Huddle”
initiative motivates Ferris’ team to work
together continuously to achieve goals.
Furthermore, team members are pushed
to reach out to each other for help, as
well as seek help and ideas from others
outside of their team. This demonstrates
the importance of practicing our core
value of collaboration.
Ferris’ team has already seen positive
change in the way they work together.
Since the “Team Huddle” initiative
works on a points system, team
members strive to collect the most
points each month. Points are earned by
demonstrating how you helped others
and how your efforts helped the team
reach its goals.
Team members have
the opportunity to win
“Superstar of the Month”
and if the team reaches
their cost savings goal for
the company by the end of
the year, the whole team
wins a reward! One lucky
person will be named “Superstar of the
Year” as #1 contributor.
Ferris’ team uses a robust dashboard
to capture how his team achieves goals
over time. This dashboard shows how
each team member is contributing to the
company’s goals.
