Ease of doing
business
initiatives
• In Dec 2014, a 98 point reform framework was developed at a national level workshop to
provide guidance on enabling ease of doing business
• DIPP had initiated a study to assess the States/UTs on 8 areas for 285 interventions to enabling
ease of doing business.
• The State Government in Tripura has undertaken a series of reforms aimed at turning the state
into a business friendly investment destination
• Reform implementation are divided into short term, medium term and long term and segregated
into process and technology based interventions.
Background
• States have an important role to play in ensuring that this reform initiative is successful as
the changes have to happen across both Central & State levels of Government.

Ease of doing

initiatives
• In 1996, Tripura Industrial Development Agency (TIDA) constituted for providing
single point clearance to investors within a period of one month.
• Empowered Committee under Minister, Industries & Commerce ; Functional
Committee under Secretary, Industries & Commerce.
• Reforms have been initiated by Factories & Boilers Organisation, Land revenue
Department, Tripura Industrial Development Corporation etc. for adopting online
system for application and inspection.
Way Forward :
• Recently, Tripura Investment Promotion Board (TIPB) is constituted under
Minister, Industries & Commerce ; Empowered Committee under Chief
Secretary ; Director, Industries & Commerce as Nodal Officer to provide all
statutory clearances.
• Out of total 58 blocks, already 51 blocks are connected through internet. Steps
initiated for electronic receipts/payments/refund of fees/deposits through e-
payment gateway
