- The River has the ability to give back as well. Hydroelectric power is a renewable source of energy. 3 locations of weir's in Exeter on the River that could consider hydro-electric. Yes these are low head features, but fag packet calculations show each could power 500 family homes for a year. Could we extend that with retro-fit energy efficient appliances, lighting, and heating in homes immediately near to the hydro-power generation? What does that say about our energy independence agenda if we can ?
