2. Title & Genre:
 I have two different titles in mind for my documentary:
-‟Behind The Essex Girl‟
-‟Beyond The Essex Girl‟
 The genre of my documentary would have an entertainment
aspect to it.
 Due to the focus on Essex and its stereotypes it can be related to
other documentaries and reality shows such as „Educating Essex‟
and „The Only Way Is Essex‟. However, my documentary will focus
on Essex stereotypes which change the perception of “Essex
girls”.

3. Target Audience:
 Primary target audience: 13-25 year old. Particularly teenage
females. A B/C/D demographic group of mainstreamers and
aspirers.
The male to female ratio would be around 75% female and 25%
male.
 Secondary target audience: Middle aged adults, typically parents
of the teenage girls in the primary audience.
 I would hope for viewers to watch the documentary from other
locations around Britain, not just in Essex because it focuses on
them.

4. Narrative/Storyline:
 The full trailer is ideally about Essex girl‟s and their
stereotypes which are attached to them. The
documentary will go beyond the typical stereotype
labels and focus on different perceptions of the girls to
change the views of “Essex girls”. How they‟re dumb,
orange, fake and tarty.
 USP: It contradicts programmes which promote the
Essex stereotype such as „TOWIE‟ and „Educating
Essex‟.

5. Research Required:
 Programmes which promote the Essex stereotype e.g.
„Educating Essex‟ and „The Only Way Is Essex‟
 Research online e.g. statistics and typical activities
Essex residents partake in.
 Interviews.

6. Characters/Actors/Costumes/
Props
 Teenage Girls from Essex:
Anna Skelding, Harriet Jones, Charlotte Hooper
and more.
 Adults of Authority: Teachers, Syd
Moore?
 Costumes: Casual everyday clothes
for daywear and party dresses for
the evening.
 Props: Make-up, mirrors, spray tan tent, nail
technicians equipment etc.

7. Locations:
 Teenage girls bedroom/house.
 Locations in Essex e.g. Lakeside, Southend High-
street, Seafront.
 Tennis and Yacht Clubs.
 Grammar School (Southend High School For Girls)
 Time of Day: Daytime and nighttime
