Intro

Cheadle & Marple Sixth Form College are in need of a video to be produce d to advertise the college
and what it can offer. As the Creative Media department have not really been advertised that much
we feel it is essential now that the college gives information out about our subject in particular. As
Creative Media and Media are the two main subjects that students and parents get confused about
we want to separate the two subjects to give them the full overview on Creative Media only.

Target Audience

When it comes to the target audience of the entire production we want to aim at potential students
to the college and even in some cases to the parents as they will be interested also for their
children’s sake. The reason we will be aiming at students is because they need to know what the
course will entail and how much information there is needed to be put into the production. As we
have stated the target audience is students but also parents so you will need to consider this fact as
we want the product to be user friendly and appropriate for the target audience.

Past experience of the company

In the past we have used many different programs to create media within the industry we are
within. These programs include Photoshop, macromedia flash and a various amount of others. This
means we have a high standard that we are aspiring too and we hope and trust that you have a wide
variety of skills to produce this for us.

About the College

Our college is very student friendly and we like to advertise that we have an atmosphere that
interests many. We hope that many students would consider coming to our college from the
different facilities we offer. When it comes to different facilities we offer a wide amount of
computers within the ICT suite and also many books to go in our library. We also like to show off the
fact we have a refectory that is packed full of cooked food throughout the day with salad, meat and
various sandwiches with a range of fillings. We also ask that within the product to be created that
you can include a bit about the college for the students to get a slight overview as well as what the
course has to offer.

The course to be studied/what we want you to include

The course that we want to be shown is Creative Media. There is a course overview on the College
website if you are not sure what to include. We want to know the entry requirements so that the
students can see and we also want you to display what the course has to offer and how exciting it is.
Also we would love to have an interview with a student and possibly a tutor if you can get
opportunity. As we have already mentioned above we are proud of all the facilities we have to offer
so would be pleased if you could get a wide amount of shots around the college.

Legal and ethnic considerations:

As part of a production team we will have to take into consideration the legal and ethnic
considerations, this is to make sure that we will not upset or anger anybody when it comes
to them as the audience viewing this creation. We as the college do hope that once you
have agreed to the concept of the legal and ethnic considerations that you do stick with
what we have considered.

Copyright is one of the main issues that you will need to think of when it comes to creating
something for our college. So for the interactive video you need to reassure us as the
college that all of the work which is produced for the video will be one hundred per cent all
of your very own original work. You also need to think about the representation of this
creation making sure that it is fit for all cultures and religions, again so that the audience do
not get upset whilst viewing the video for our college, and considering we have people with
different races in this college if there was to be a video you created which was just with one
race then it would make students not want to come as they may not feel equal. Also both
genders i.e. male and female need to be included in this video so that it is not classed as
sexist and again both genders do attend this college anyway so it will be needed to be
shown in the promotional video, otherwise people may get confused and if it is just showing
males then females may think it’s an all-male college and vice versa.

Another thing that I would like you to consider is I would prefer it that once you have
created this video for my college, you will keep it private and confidential until the release
date. This is because I would not like people taking the ideas and even copying them for
their own promotional videos. So we as the college do not want any ‘sneaky previews’ of
any footage being shown to the public until the exact release date.

Time

The time management is very important in this project, making sure that you stick to the
time that we have given you to complete the project is a must. You will have around 2
weeks to do the filming of the video which will be at the end of Jan to early Feb. You also
will need to work out how many hours per day you will need to work for, so that all the
filming is all complete in the time that we have given you. We will be having meeting with
you throughout the project making sure that everything you are doing is correct and we are
happy with your progress.

Costs
Leeanne Hibbert

Working out the cost of the project is very important and making sure that you stick to the
budget is important also. We need to look at all the equipment that you need to hire and
work out the cost for the equipment that you need. The budget that you have been given is
£4000 to complete the whole thing. We done a bit of research into the cost of hiring some
of the equipment that you need to do the filming and a standard camera man will cost
around £200 per day working on a 10 hour day but if you need to have special effects it will
cost around £250 based on a 10 hour day.

Personnel

When it comes to the personnel side of things there will be three managers behind the
product that you will need to contact if there are any issues that you need help with. We
will help with any problems that you have but these must be important as we are trusting
everything with you. If there is the odd thing you are concerned about we take full respect
from you if you choose to contact us about it.

Resources

When making the video you will need a range of resources that we trust you already know
about. You will need a camera and tripod to do the filming with, and then a computer with
editing software on so that you can edit all the filming that you have done. We trust that
any other resources that you want to use will be practical and necessary for the video we
want you to create.
