To Whom It May Concern:
I would like to introduce myself. I am Jorge Guerrero M.D. a Family Medicine Physician who
has been practicing in Southeast Houston for almost thirty years. During this time I have also
participated in the hospital care of many of my patients and am presently Chairman of the
Department of Medical Staff Credentialing at University General Hospital in Houston, Texas. As
head of the department it is my duty to oversee the evaluation and credentialing of physicians of
different specialties who wish to participate in the medical care of patients at University General
Hospital. In the past I have also participated in numerous medical committees and departments
at East Houston Regional Medical Center in Houston, Texas which included but not limited to
Chairman of the Department of Family Medicine, member of the Medical Executive Committee as
well as member of the Board of Trustees at East Houston Regional Medical Center. Based on
having participated in the numerous medical committees and departments I have acquired a vast
amount of experience in evaluating physicians, nurses and hospital ancillary services personnel
such as physical therapist, respiratory therapist, laboratory technicians and pharmacists.
I would like at this time to introduce Esther Cohen, a Texas Board Certified Pharmacist whom I
have known for over 20 years. During that time I have had the good fortune of working with her
on a professional basis. This has included but not limited to aiding me through all these years in
providing medicinal and pharmaceutical assistance to my patients. I presently practice in a
heavily Hispanic community in Houston, Texas and with the assistance of Esther Cohen I have
been able to provide proper and affordable medical care thanks to the bilingual capabilities of Ms.
Cohen as well as her caring heart. Many times patients were not able to afford certain medicines
I prescribed and Esther managed to work out payment plans or arranged for a more affordable
product. Her generosity towards the less fortunate is truly beyond compare. The time she takes
to explain to patients the use and side effects of certain medication has indeed assisted me in
avoiding confusion in my patients, especially the Spanish speaking only patients. At a time when
we encounter a large amount of non English monolinguistic patients it is truly a blessing to count
on the bilingual pharmaceutical skills by Ms. Cohen.
It is with great pleasure and confidence that I recommend Esther Cohen to any pharmaceutical
position including managerial and or administrative position(s) especially those requiring bilingual
