Australia's Tall Flightless Bird: Facts About Emus
1. Emu it’s an animal who lives in Australia, in the center of the continent, in densely populated
areas and dense forests. Emu had wings but he can’t fly. It’s the tallest animal in Australia, he
is similar to the ostrich. He can run 120 km per hour. They live in groups of three or four Emu’s,
and when they move to another place, the groups are four or five.
The feathers are gray or brown, the same as his skin and legs.
The neck of the Emu is pale blue, we see that trough their
feathers. They eat seeds, vegetables, fruits, flowers and
insects. They have long neck and legs. He weighs 45 kg and
measure 150 to 190 centimeters. Females are usually larger
than males. Their plumage absorbs the solar radiation, and
the feathers protect the skin.
The eyes of a Emu are really sensitive, they have a membrane
that protect their eyes. The female
lays to 20 eggs, which are large and
are soft dark green in colour, and then
the male incubates the eggs for a
period of 7-8 weeks.
