1. YG Speaks on Hip-Hop
As hip-hop artists are constantly surrounded by controversies, YG proves to be no exception,
with his name and the occurrence of a riot at one of his concerts. He hopes the public does not
see him as troublesome.
The California rapper was the top-rated performer voted for by The Lincoln University students
for this year’s homecoming concert.
The Concert, which took place in the university’s Manuel Rivero Hall, held over 500 fans in
attendance. The festivities began with a freestyle rap battle titled “Barz & A Beat,” which was
hosted by Lincoln senior, Amanda Fields and alumnus, Corry Townes; after which YG took to
the stage.
YG gave Lincoln students and aspiring hip-hop artist advices. YG said “do your [thing].” The
California rapper is true to his music genre, and is not moving into another genre. “I’m a rap
artist…..we rap music,” he said.
He also let his fans know it is okay to pursue other dream careers. YG said he is “writing movies
…..right now.”
During his performance, YG performed his collaborative hit songs “Toot it and Boot it,” “My
Hitta,” “Who Do You Love,” and some of his other songs. He also performed songs other artists
featured him in, which include Yo Gotti’s “Act Right,” and Jeremih’s “Don’t Tell’ Em.”
The West Coast rapper who is from Compton California, recently won two BET awards for
“Best Collabo, Duo or Group” and “Track of the Year.”
