Dear Hiring Manager, Recruiter or Decision Maker,
Searching for a job in today’s business market stinks. Your position of having to sort through
hundreds of cover letters and resumes from hundreds of applicants stinks even worse. I’ve been
there and done that. Most everyone looks good on paper, the ones that are a definite “no” are
easy to spot. So you wind up with a stack of fifty qualified viable candidates. Fifty people for one
position… who has time to call fifty people? Might as well throw them all in the air and see which
one lands on top. I know, it is mind numbing.
In this letter I will try to make your task easier. I will tell you who I am, how I work and who I
am not, if you have any doubts about me at all, please don’t call and get my hopes up. If you
think my personality and experience might be a good fit, I’d like to hear from you.
I am passionate about my work, I am not someone who does the minimum to get by.
I am a problem solver, I am not a trouble maker – don’t have time for that.
I am a go getter, I am not someone that waits for things to happen.
I am a thinker, there is always more than one way to skin a cat
I am a multi-tasker, married with 2 boys, full time job and volunteer activities… enough said.
I am organized, first things first in most cases and take care of the little things so they don’t turn
into big things.
I am an optimist, I generally see the good in people and situations
I have a servant heart, I try to find a way to serve people in the best way possible.
I am loyal, I will fight tooth and nail for you if you are in my corner and if you have my back.
I am a team player – I don’t take credit for other’s work and am don’t look for credit for mine, the
proof is in the pudding.
I like a challenge – I tend to do my best work when challenged
I am friendly – I genuinely like people and they typically like me.
I am trustworthy – no time for lies or games.
I have a high work ethic – I treat your business as if it were my own.
I have a wealth of experience in several different business categories, which makes it hard to
categorize what I can do. I can tell you that in most every position I have held, I have been
promoted and had very favorable reviews. Please understand that I am searching for a career,
not just a place to collect a paycheck and I am very selective about the companies I apply with.
Sincerely,
Erin Tamplet
