Telecommunications Industry Association, Vice President Global Network Marketing, 1/01-7/03.
• Created from the start, all strategic aspects of TIA's domestic and international market development activities.
• Designed, developed and managed strategies for programming that provided industry marketing support for the
development of the telecommunications infrastructure market.
• Prepared speeches, reports, press releases, talking points and other written materials for the President of the
Association, Board Members and other staff.
• Extensive public speaking to market experts, domestic and foreign government officials and industry leaders.
• Related to TIA’s Board of Directors regarding programming, budget, strategic direction, etc.
• Developed performance metrics and managed five staff at headquarters and two in a satellite office in Silicon Valley.
• Established and managed relations with senior level contacts of technology providers, particularly of emerging
technologies to establish marketing needs and priorities. Issues of concern included adoption rates, intellectual property

Telecommunications Industry Association, Vice President of International Affairs, 4/91 to 1/01
• Created from the start, all aspects of TIA’s international regulatory, trade policy, and business development goals using
appropriate performance metrics.
• Lobbied U.S. and foreign governments to enhance market access for TIA members. Active policy issues include global
wireless regulations; global trade talks through the World Trade Organization; international standards and development
matters of the ITU; intellectual property issues pursued at the World Intellectual Property Organization; global
technology policy; export controls; and electronic commerce.
• Wrote extensively on policy position papers, speeches, articles, press releases and market analyses related to industry
priorities for use by the U.S. Trade Representative and other government agencies.
• Organized and led trade missions abroad to Vietnam, India, South Africa, and Eastern Europe. Worked with U.S.
embassies abroad and U.S. Commerce Dept officials to organize reverse trade missions to the U.S. from more than 20
countries. Most of the missions were to attend TIA's trade show, SUPERCOMM.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
• M.A. in Economics from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 1985, GPA 3.5/4.0. Emphasis of the
program was to obtain practical quantitative ability. Thesis involved an econometric model of the telecommunications
industry, specifically, the effects of regulation on the industry.
• B.S. in Economics from George Mason University in 1978, GPA: 3.5/4.0. Repeated inclusion on Dean's List. Member
of Economic Honor Society.
