of sexualizing female characters. The wet hair and running make up represent not being
prepared for the situation at hand relating to her running away from something or
someone.
Language: Moaning/crying denotes distress or pain.
Lighting and Colour: Lightning reinforces fear and flash lighting up area shows it is dark.
Black and White illustrates it is a flashback or a past event.
Positioning Objects/Characters: The character is at eye level so we get a more accurate
feel of them running, and/or as if someone is watching her.
Sound: Rain, thunder and lightning and the girl
moaning and groaning.
The sound is very low key in this scene, the rain, thunder and lightning and the female
character moaning in pain create a distressed soundscape.
Editing: Flashes of lightning between clips. Lightning

Flashes of lightning then screen black gives a transition between clips that skip ahead
slightly e.g. clip at 0.6 seconds flash, clip again at 0.3 seconds. The black transitions also
allow for actor names to pop up and be seen. Finally, lightning flashes illuminate the area
showing brief snaps of the girl and her wounds making the audience question what she
has done.
Cinematography:
Camera Angles
The camera angle is mid shot/eye level and
pans across from right to left along with the
female character.
This illustrates to us that someone could be following/watching the girl hence the eye
level shot and the pan. Additionally, the camera is hand held which reinforces the
characters distress as the camera is shaking and moving.
