The Future Project
The Future Project fights to keep New York,
D.C., and New Haven kids in school through
"Dream Directors," who encourage kids to
dream up and build their own Future Projects.
So far kids in the targeted schools have
produced a documentary about the effects of
bullying, hosted a benefit fashion show to end
leukaemia, and created a workshop to end
youth violence.
Forbes Under 30 social entrepreneurs
Generation of primary school entrepreneurs
Primary school children will be taught how to set up their own businesses
and make profits under plans to be unveiled this week.
Steve Jobs, the founder of Apple, attributed his
company’s success in 2011 to being a place where
“technology married with liberal arts, married with
the humanities … yields us the results that makes our
heart sing.”

Editor's Notes

  1. [10 minutes] Introduce yourself – relevant example The world is changing faster now than ever before in history – we are teaching subjects to prepare graduates, for jobs that don’t yet exist. So what do you need / will you need to have a long and fulfilling career spanning 50 years – YES 50 years You need entrepreneurial skills and attributes – even you are planning to have an employed career – So UoG is investing in enterprise skills because: To improve the way we teach Enterprise which will increase the employability of our graduates: What we mean by Enterprise in this context is a set of attributes, skills and behaviours which, based on both our own and global research, employers want and lead to long term career satisfaction; To improve the readiness and success of students who become self-employed after graduation, for example choosing freelance, coaching or consultancy careers, and thereby creating a USP for UoG.
  2. Oxford university says the skills you learn: Observation Creativity Presentation & Performance Competitive analysis Provide a GREAT platform for being entrepreneurial
  3. Oxford University students, Toby on the left studied languages and then became a teacher before founding Lingumi
  4. English, Arts and History graduates
  5. Schoolchildren as young as five as will be taught how to set up their own businesses and make profits under plans to be unveiled this week. David Cameron will support a sweeping overhaul of teaching in primary and secondary schools to encourage children to be more entrepreneurial and prepare them to start their own companies later in life. The reforms have been drawn up by Lord Young of Graffham, the former Cabinet minister who advises the Prime Minister on Britain’s competitiveness. The moves are intended to change attitudes towards self-employment and make Britain more supportive to people who set up their own companies. After studying teaching standards and techniques, Lord Young is understood to have concluded that lessons are irrelevant for tens of thousands of children because they do not apply to today’s Britain. In his Enterprise for All report, which is due to be published on Thursday, the peer will set out several changes that should be made at every stage of education, from primary school to university.
  6. If still in doubt! How much did he earn?
  7. So – there are some measures which we can use to see just how entrepreneurial we are – and knowing where you start from may make a difference to some of the choices you make. Banter between Adrian and I about the Enterprise Test outputs They do their test – 15 minutes, 10 min plus 5 mins
  8. 2 elements of leadership mindset which we believe is vital to reach the highest levels of effectiveness as a leader. In this exercise, ask a friend or colleague who knows you well to score you out of five in each of the 12 elements of the leadership mindset in relation to your current job. It is important that somebody else scores you as they will give you an independent and honest answer on how they see you. The key here is not to necessarily get the highest score, but to get the most honest answers. TIME – 15 minutes max
  9. Show just the essence 3 minutes MAX from 1:45 to 4:47 minutes
  10. Find a problem and solve it in a way that people will pay money for
  11. Service Canvas Model - Template Exercise (use printed templates) 15 minutes to make a start
  12. Exercise to practice personal or business pitch – 15 minutes
