the candidates
GREG BARR (NATIONALS):
I believe there’s no better
region than ours to build a
home, start a business,
raise a family or create a
lifestyle — that’s why I live
here and why I’ll fight for this
area.
If elected, I will combine
strong representation with
integrity, compassion,
fairness and respect.
I’m an active volunteer,
member of a number of
community committees,
former Victoria Police
detective and worked as an
electorate officer and adviser
for Jeanette Powell MP for
almost 10 years,
understanding firsthand the
issues important to the
community.
I worked hard to secure
commitments — a re-elected
Victorian Coalition
Government will invest
$75 million towards stage
one redevelopment of
Goulburn Valley Health,
$1 million towards feasibility
and planning work for the
Shepparton Bypass,
$2.5 million to continue the
redevelopment of the
Shepparton central business
district and $5 million for the
Goulburn Valley Industry and
Infrastructure Fund. These
commitments complement
funded projects already
underway, including the
$73 million Shepparton Court
Justice precinct, $15 million
Youth Foyer, $22 million for
SPC Ardmona and
$5.4 million Cosgrove
pipeline.
I am committed to the
Shepparton District and have
been working hard all year
and delivering results. I
believe the choices are clear.
Labor will cut the country, an
independent will leave
Shepparton on its own, but I
won’t.
ROD HIGGINS (LABOR):
Myself and a Labor
Government will bring much
to this region if we win office
tomorrow.
We believe that every
Victorian has the right to a
job and Labor’s ‘‘Back to
Work’’ plan aims to work with
business leaders, grow our
industries and create
100 000 new jobs for
Victoria’s unemployed.
Because Shepparton has
one of the highest
unemployment rates in the
state, I will be advocating for
greater assistance to our
region.
Our youth unemployment is a
disaster and leads to social
problems, such as drug use
and crime.
Daniel Andrews and I will
deliver an Ice Action plan
within the first 100 days of
government, drawing experts
in the field together to help
solve the scourge of ice in our
community.
Perhaps the most important
way to reduce unemployment
is to promote educational
opportunities and this will be
a top priority for our
government.
Our transport system needs
to be upgraded to the same
levels as other regions and
this means reducing times to
get to Melbourne, which
means upgrading tracks not
just adding more slow
services.
The bypass is also an
essential part of our overall
transport needs and will be
one of my priorities.
DIANE TEASDALE
(INDEPENDENT):
As a child growing up in
Shepparton, I remember we
felt safe and secure.
There was always a feeling that
whatever background you
came from you could succeed
if you put in the effort.
I was fortunate to have very
good role models, with my
father running can-making at
SPC and my grandfather in
charge of the state rivers.
Until recent years it was
possible to get employment if
you were willing to work.
Because of the diverse
economy, Shepparton was a
lovely place to live.
Technical education ensured
young people had some
experience, so they were an
asset to future employers.
Today we have a shortage of
tradesmen and an
environment where it is very
difficult and costly to train
young people.
I would like to see this
changed.
More than anything, I would
like to see an improvement in
the way we educate and
protect our young people.
The recent downgrade of
morals makes our young
vulnerable and the financial
pressure on their parents
makes it worse.
Wasting taxpayer and
ratepayers money is a big
contributor to this problem
and if we are to see change
these are probably the areas I
would like to see changed first.
EUROA STATE ELECTION CANDIDATES
● Tony Schneider (Liberal)
● Steph Ryan (Nationals)
● Lisa Adams (Australian
Country Alliance)
● Clare Malcolm (Labor)
● Simon Roberts (Greens)
● Julie-Anne Winzer (Family
First)
MURRAY PLAINS CANDIDATES
● Peter Williams (Labor)
● Ian Christoe (Greens)
● Laurie Wintle (Rise Up
Australia)
● Nigel Hicks (Independent)
● Peter Walsh (Nationals)
● Bryon Winn (Australian
Country Alliance)
SUZANNA SHEED
(INDEPENDENT):
After 47 years as one of the
state’s safest seats, the
results of this election will
leave a lasting legacy not only
on the city and the district of
Shepparton, but also on the
region as a whole.
Regardless of who is elected to
government, it is likely that
neither Labor or the Coalition
will have a large majority and
that a handful of independents
and micro-parties will wield
significant influence. If
elected, I will bring the
leverage of a single voice for
our community to the
negotiating table.
I will demand that Shepparton
is not forgotten ever again.
We have so many natural
advantages here in the
Goulburn Valley — our climate,
access to water, our location,
our people. We have so many
opportunities to thrive and
prosper.
I will not ask for handouts or
the scraps off the table.
I will work to secure the levels
of investment and access to
services that Bendigo, Geelong,
Ballarat and even Warrnambool
receive on an ongoing basis.
This coming term of
government it is our turn and if
elected I will make it happen.

Cnr Grace Rd & Goulburn Valley Hwy, Shepparton (Behind St Luke’s Primary School) 0408 648 062 – Mark 0417 794 128 - Michael 3 HO URS O NLY! the candidates GREG BARR (NATIONALS): I believe there’s no better region than ours to build a home, start a business, raise a family or create a lifestyle — that’s why I live here and why I’ll fight for this area. If elected, I will combine strong representation with integrity, compassion, fairness and respect. I’m an active volunteer, member of a number of community committees, former Victoria Police detective and worked as an electorate officer and adviser for Jeanette Powell MP for almost 10 years, understanding firsthand the issues important to the community. I worked hard to secure commitments — a re-elected Victorian Coalition Government will invest $75 million towards stage one redevelopment of Goulburn Valley Health, $1 million towards feasibility and planning work for the Shepparton Bypass, $2.5 million to continue the redevelopment of the Shepparton central business district and $5 million for the Goulburn Valley Industry and Infrastructure Fund. These commitments complement funded projects already underway, including the $73 million Shepparton Court Justice precinct, $15 million Youth Foyer, $22 million for SPC Ardmona and $5.4 million Cosgrove pipeline. I am committed to the Shepparton District and have been working hard all year and delivering results. I believe the choices are clear. Labor will cut the country, an independent will leave Shepparton on its own, but I won’t. ROD HIGGINS (LABOR): Myself and a Labor Government will bring much to this region if we win office tomorrow. We believe that every Victorian has the right to a job and Labor’s ‘‘Back to Work’’ plan aims to work with business leaders, grow our industries and create 100 000 new jobs for Victoria’s unemployed. Because Shepparton has one of the highest unemployment rates in the state, I will be advocating for greater assistance to our region. Our youth unemployment is a disaster and leads to social problems, such as drug use and crime. Daniel Andrews and I will deliver an Ice Action plan within the first 100 days of government, drawing experts in the field together to help solve the scourge of ice in our community. Perhaps the most important way to reduce unemployment is to promote educational opportunities and this will be a top priority for our government. Our transport system needs to be upgraded to the same levels as other regions and this means reducing times to get to Melbourne, which means upgrading tracks not just adding more slow services. The bypass is also an essential part of our overall transport needs and will be one of my priorities. DIANE TEASDALE (INDEPENDENT): As a child growing up in Shepparton, I remember we felt safe and secure. There was always a feeling that whatever background you came from you could succeed if you put in the effort. I was fortunate to have very good role models, with my father running can-making at SPC and my grandfather in charge of the state rivers. Until recent years it was possible to get employment if you were willing to work. Because of the diverse economy, Shepparton was a lovely place to live. Technical education ensured young people had some experience, so they were an asset to future employers. Today we have a shortage of tradesmen and an environment where it is very difficult and costly to train young people. I would like to see this changed. More than anything, I would like to see an improvement in the way we educate and protect our young people. The recent downgrade of morals makes our young vulnerable and the financial pressure on their parents makes it worse. Wasting taxpayer and ratepayers money is a big contributor to this problem and if we are to see change these are probably the areas I would like to see changed first. EUROA STATE ELECTION CANDIDATES ● Tony Schneider (Liberal) ● Steph Ryan (Nationals) ● Lisa Adams (Australian Country Alliance) ● Clare Malcolm (Labor) ● Simon Roberts (Greens) ● Julie-Anne Winzer (Family First) MURRAY PLAINS CANDIDATES ● Peter Williams (Labor) ● Ian Christoe (Greens) ● Laurie Wintle (Rise Up Australia) ● Nigel Hicks (Independent) ● Peter Walsh (Nationals) ● Bryon Winn (Australian Country Alliance) SUZANNA SHEED (INDEPENDENT): After 47 years as one of the state’s safest seats, the results of this election will leave a lasting legacy not only on the city and the district of Shepparton, but also on the region as a whole. Regardless of who is elected to government, it is likely that neither Labor or the Coalition will have a large majority and that a handful of independents and micro-parties will wield significant influence. If elected, I will bring the leverage of a single voice for our community to the negotiating table. I will demand that Shepparton is not forgotten ever again. We have so many natural advantages here in the Goulburn Valley — our climate, access to water, our location, our people. We have so many opportunities to thrive and prosper. I will not ask for handouts or the scraps off the table. I will work to secure the levels of investment and access to services that Bendigo, Geelong, Ballarat and even Warrnambool receive on an ongoing basis. This coming term of government it is our turn and if elected I will make it happen.
