NO APOLOGIESSTUBBORN PATTERSON DEFIANT IN FACE OF COUNCILLOR MISCONDUCT ALLEGATIONS AGAINST HIM
By ELAINE COONEY
Former City of Greater
Shepparton Mayor Dennis
Patterson said he would rather face
jail than apologise for something
he says he did not do.
Cr Patterson said he was
stubborn and would run for
council this year because he had
much work to do in developing
export links between the
Goulburn Valley and China.
However, a councillor conduct
panel may direct him to apologise
‘‘in a form or manner determined’’
should it find him guilty of
misconduct.
At a confidential meeting on
Wednesday, Shepparton councillors
determined Cr Patterson should
face the panel on four
allegations of misconduct following
an independent review into the
behaviour of Crs Patterson, Les
Oroszvary and Kevin Ryan.
Crs Ryan and Oroszvary were
cleared of any alleged misconduct.
The council yesterday released
the agenda of the confidential
meeting, which details four of the 19
allegations in which Cr Patterson
was found to have breached the
Local Government Act.
