1. Edith M. Dunlap
UPIC Intern,Summer2015
SupervisorandMentor:Daniel Austin
Executive Summary
As the writing and editing intern for the Division
of Student Affairs (Student Affairs Publications)
and Campus Banner + Design (CB+D), I was able to
gain valuable knowledge pertaining to the ins and
outs of the department and the ways that it
operates for Clemson University students and
parents, as well as getting an inside look at the
inner workings of a design business that produces
its own products for internal and external clients.
In addition to getting a beind the scenes look into
the Department of Student Affairs and CB+D—
which I am very honored to have been able to
experience—I was able to apply my already
existing talents and the skills that I had gained
during my first round with UPIC to a wide variety
of challenging projects and jobs that tested my
knowledge, comprehension and ability to produce
documents that were satisfactory to my site
mentor, other supervisors, and most importantly,
the clients for whom I was writing and editing.
To future interns, my advice would be to
approach your internship head-on. Do not be
afraid to make mistakes, ask for help or leave your
comfort zone.
“Edith has a great work ethic. She comes in, greets
everyone in the office and immediately goes to
work. As far as completing tasks goes, she exceeds
the call of duty.” – Alex Taylor, CB+D Production
