There are three categories of the ranks of the Indian Army:
Commissioned Officers- The officers are of Grade A level who joins the army with the examination like NDA, CDS, TGC, TES, etc. They are the leaders of the army and the command units anywhere from the company to the whole army.
Junior Commissioned Officers- These are the officers which are somehow equivalent to senior non-commissioned officers in the western armies.
Other Ranks- Other Commission Officer or Non- Commission Officer are soldiers who have been promoted to positions of responsibility, and they are very similar to the non-commissioned officers in the Western armies. Sepoy's low level differs from the different arms of the army.
