4. Environmental Impact
With Esc-Receipt
Uses up data space, which in turn uses
up energy (however, this energy could be
sourced in an environmentally friendly
way) and emits heat energy.
Potentially NO ENVIRONMENTAL

Environmental Impact
Without Esc-Receipt
89% support getting rid of physical receipt
Thermal receipts can’t be recycled and contain Bisphenol-A that
has carcinogenic properties
55,000 receipts = 1 tree
11.2 Billion Receipts a year in UK 1p for each one, costs £32
million. 140 times around equator
250 million gallons of oil/ 9.6 million trees & 1 billion gallons of
water in US are used to make receipts each year.
£1.5 billion in waste.

Conceptual Ideas Esc-Receipt Design Scheme
Concept
Through the integration with previously good ideas of finance
related apps, the esc-Receipt will be simplistic with a modern
touch to enable the user to grasp a dated selection of receipts that
work alongside retail units to provide a relaxed approach to the
organisation of receipts!
A cloud syncronisation across all of your devices & web sharing
accounts.

9. Conceptual Document Esc-Receipt Design Scheme
Why would the customer
be interested in electronic
receipts?
Have they ever needed to return an item and lost the receipt?
Do they want to be notified when their time runs out for returning items?
Does it bug them when their wallet is full of receipts?
Do they get frustrated organising their receipts?
Would they want all their online shopping and high street shopping receipts
to be together?
Are they concerned about the environmental effect receipts have?
10.
11. Conceptual Document Esc-Receipt Design Scheme
Why would retail units be
interested in electronic receipts?
Are they concerned at the expense/environmental impact of paper receipts?
Would they want their customers to have a receipt / voucher / loyalty card all
together?
Would they want to allow their customers to always know how many loyalty
points they may have?
Would they like to link the receipt with their website and app?
Are they trying to run an efficient business, what is the cheapest and easiest
route for them.
Shifts printing costs to the customer

14.
15. Conceptual Document Esc-Receipt Design Scheme
Reaching out to
customers
Account holders will be able to receive receipts through:
o Email
o Private email account specifically for e-receipt (doesn’t give the
option for retail units to abuse private information)?
o Touching in on phone (similar to oyster card)
o Giving out cards to act like oyster card for collection
o Bluetooth
o NFC
o Physically logging details (writing)?

Market Size
How many people in the country
o UK has a population of 64.1 million
o World has a population of 7.182 billion
o UK has 64.1 million customers, 320 million transactions per
week with 287,100 retail outlets
Costs:
o £1 for a paper receipt role
o £100-300 for the receipt machine
How many people use smartphones or have access to the internet
o UK 30.9 million in 2013 by 2014 2/3 of population
o World 1/7 have a smartphone 2013
o World 1/4 has access to internet 2013
o Argued that 1% use mobile wallet apps (market to be tapped)
Retail units will pay a subscription (£1 a week, compared to £2-8 a week
for physical receipts) and additional charge for NFC device for contactless
19. Conceptual Document Esc-Receipt Design Scheme
Competition
Who are they?
o OneReceipt (Currently only based in America but are similar)
o Receipt Bank (Doesn’t sync with online accounts)
o TinyScan (Allows you to take photos of receipt)
o Receipts2go (Allows you to take photo)
o ReceiptCatcher (Allows you to take photo)
o GoogleWallet (doesn’t provide pickup for cash payments)
Why Esc-Receipts are better:
o We will integrate all ideas from all apps to create a mega app.
o There will be an easy to use interface with a better design.
o Will have the ability to use the latest receipt collection
technology, while integrating the old.
o The design will approach the market while the technology is
emerging and the shops are beginning to interact with it
too.
o Work with the retail units to serve the customer (give the retail
units easy access to change and edit their accounts).

Fundraising Plan
The investment will be staggered. This will work in a two phase plan, where
an initial seed investor will allow for a prototype of the future apps and
website to be developed. This will then allow angel investors to get an
understanding and physically be able to see how the app will work in the
future. This will be followed by the Angel Investor funding the the business
growth and marketing campaign.
22. Seed Investment
What is a seed investment?
Definition of ‘Seed Capital’ The initial capital used to start a business.
Seed capital often comes from the company founders’ personal assets
or from friends and family. The amount of money is usually relatively
small because the business is still in the idea or conceptual stage.
How much?
Looking to fund initial demo/prototype
costing between £20-30K
From who?
Government
Private
23. Conceptual Document Esc-Receipt Design Scheme
Angel Investment
What is an angel investor?
Definition of ‘Angel Capital’ An Angel investor or angel (also
known as a business angel or informal investor or angel funder)
is an affluent individual who provides capital for a business start-
up, usually in exchange for convertible debt or ownership equity.
How much?
Looking to fund startup, this will give captial for the company
to expand quickly to dominate the market and create customer
loyalty. Looking for between £100k-1.5m. Potentially develop a
cheap device that links tills with the app
From who?
Through initial app start-up company
Privately
24. “We don’t want to work with one bank, but integrate our design to work amongst them all, to benefit them all”

Equity
5 – 12 % Seed investment
10 - 30% Angel Investor
40 - 60% take on a computer savvy partner
51% To be controlled by myself (Edward Russell)

The Team
My team will be developed through an app designer, who I feel will
best produce the slick design that I want to achieve. The sourced
consultant will also help with the business approach, due to their
previous experience within the app industry. This consultant will
also have to produce a website and maybe other virtual formats to
achieve a network of cloud services.
34. Features
Budgeting
Camera to log physical receipts, online receipt access, swipe access to receipts
VAT Reclaim
Type of spending (Groceries, Clothing) categorised. Colour coordination
Alarm for when you need to return items
Where is my order (linked with maps)
Logging baggage before it is stolen abroad
Search name of clothes / cinema / food you ate last month
Record of where you spent (map) ??
Calculator / reports & charts / depts
Add friends to bill
NFC collection device (cash / card / online payments)
35. Conceptual Document Esc-Receipt Design Scheme
Login
The app will work through an online cloud database. There will be
Apps and a Website that you will be able to create an account on. The
apps and the website will link together in a similar way that Facebook
and your bank account use to allow the customer to access their
accounts on different devices.
There will be a setting to allow multiple accounts. This will allow the
app to pull from multiple email addresses. The multi-layered database
will give you the opportunity to access your receipts on other
people’s phones and computers.
36. Security
The security of every account holder will be taken very
seriously.
This trust is a privilege and the responsibility for clients
personal data to be secure will be our first priority, 24/7.
The technology will be built to protect all accounts similar to
a bank. Using advanced encryption algorithms to protect the
information stored within the system.
37. Conceptual Document Esc-Receipt Design Scheme
Layout of Receipt
Supplier
Currency
Items
Invoice
Total Amount
Tax
Date
(LOGO, app Link, website Link)
38. Item Return
The app will link in with your calendar to provide up to date
feedback on whether items you may want to return, can still be
returned under the retailer’s returns policy.
Settings will also allow the customer to either sellect all items
to notify the user about return policies, or they could sellect just
clothes, or just eliminate groceries?
39. Conceptual Document Esc-Receipt Design Scheme
VAT Reclaim
Receipts will be able to be grouped and highlighted for reasons such
as; reclaiming VAT or reimbursement from a company or friend.
40. Adding Friends to the
Bill
This function will enable the user to contact and edit receipts to give
friends the chance to chip in on the bill or split the bill!
Similar to the app: Billr
41. Conceptual Document Esc-Receipt Design Scheme
Travel Reclaim
Create user interface to sellect items that you are taking abroad!
Therefore receipts are there for insurance, this will enable insurance
companies to give more accurate quotes.
42. Exporting
The design will integrate into the receipt design, a flicking exporting
function. This will be able to be formatted through PDF, Excel, XERO
and Freeagent (accounting software) etc…
This will enable the user to be able to sellect to print receipts and shift
the cost & environmental damage to the customer.
43. Conceptual Document Esc-Receipt Design Scheme
Settings
The app will have the ability to adapt to the user. This will be done
through font, audio and your account setting in itself.
The app will gather your e-receipts through several email accounts
if needs be. So you will be able to add email addresses (one email
account will be used as a central log in account).
There will hopefully be a change in background colour upgrade that
people will be able to download. This will similar to the “millionaire
app”, where people can download extras to enable them to appear
richer, like being part of an exclusive bank?
44. Turnover and profit
The App will be FREE to the consumer (except for
businesses and millionaire club)
App will provide an easily acceptable forum for retail outlets
to update their profiles
They will get a FREE upload for their logo
However will have to PAY to advertise; Website, App, Loyalty cards,
Deals
This will be a minimal monthly subscription cost (Planned to be less
than monthly cost of receipt for that retail outlet)
Individual retail outlets will have to sign up to this (for example; all
Tesco stores will have individual accounts)
45. Conceptual Document Esc-Receipt Design Scheme
Retail Unit Accounts
Easy access
Easy to change:
o Photo
o Email
o Website
o App link
46. Simplifying The
Accountancy
The design and layout of this cloud network will provide a userface
that enables the user with basic knowledge of technology to scroll
through their records, due to its simplicity.
This will be done through bolding of certain words and colour
coordination depending on the items being bought.
47. Shopping List
There will be a notes column similar to that of an iphone where you
can log the items you may want to buy on your next shop.
This may be linked in with items you have bought before ? ? ?
48. Potential Other Techniques
that could be used to Gather
Receipts
Bluetooth.
Through private email account specifically for e-receipt (doesn’t give the
option for retail units to abuse private information)? Touching in on phone
(similar to oyster card). Giving out cards to act like oyster card for collection
through NFC.
Physically log details.
Maybe like Apple. At the end of your shop, the shopkeeper asks “Do you
still use Esc-Receipt@hotmail.eua?”. Then you get your receipt sent to you
Use phone to scan in items. Similar to waitrose. Then pay by phone like
Google Wallet
Work with a company called eReceipts, which provides the data stream for
retail units to give out e-receipts
Proximiant device on some smartphones. NFC enabled phones.
Through existing EFT payment systems (Similar to Bank statements)
