1.3 Noise and Vibration
Construction activities will be managed as follows to minimise noise emissions and the risk of nuisance to the local communities::
Activity Impacts Control Measures
All activities Nuisance to local communities 1. Working hours will be adhered to in accordance with current regulations
2. On occasion it will be necessary to work outside the permitted hours.
Records of out of working hours will be authorised and kept by site
management.
3. The noisiest activities will be programmed to take place during the day,
with quieter activities taking place in the evening, at night time and at
week-ends.
4. The noise limit for machines and equipment is 92dB (A) at a 15 m
distance.
5. The noise limit detected at the site boundary must not exceed 55 dB (A) at
7 m beyond the site boundary.
6. Working methods will be selected that produce the least amount of noise
practicable
7. Noise control equipment will be used, such as mufflers, silencers and
jackets.
8. the need for noisy assemble practices on site will be minimised by, for
example fabricating off site
9. Noise monitoring will be undertaken to ensure compliance with noise
limits. Records of these measurements will be kept.

emissions:
Activity Impacts Control Measures
All activities Nuisance to local communities
Air pollution
1. No Burning will be permitted
2. To Minimise dust emissions the following controls may be used:
Pave roads or lay temporary road matting
Minimise the drop heights into lorries
Damp down using water whilst ensuring that the site is not over
watered leading to silty run – off water
Enclose, shield or use dust extractors, filters or scrubbers to plant
and equipment e.g. saws.
Erect Hoarding
Keep areas of hard standing clean
Enforce speed limits
Ensure exhausts do not discharge directly at the ground
Dampen waste chutes
Sheet all lorries carrying dusty materials
Waste and dusty materials are not to be transported during
sandstorms or heavy rainfall
Prior to concrete pours vacuum dust from formwork, rather than
blowing it out.
Cover any potentially dusty materials with sheeting
