This presentation tells about interlinking River Kaveri and its tributaries in Bangalore plateau, India (It is an elevated area of land in the south western part of Deccan area). This solves all the water related problems in Bangalore plateau including disputes related to River Kaveri, if the guidelines and views mentioned in the presentation are completed along with interlinking Ganga to Kaveri.
Interlinking Ganga to Kaveri will provide sufficient water at the level below "500-550 meter above the mean sea level". Thus Tamilnadu need not depend upon water generated from the River Kaveri and its tributaries.

Question2: Will the Government of Tamilnadu accept for
this? If, the state government of Karnataka puts this
proposal in front of the Government of India?
Answer: Tamilnadu has lots of land which is very much
suitable for agriculture, which needs lots of water to do
agriculture. If all the parts of Tamilnadu, both Kaveri fed
and Kaveri non fed areas, gets better and sufficient water
supply by the rivers like Ganga, Yamuna and
Brahmaputra, then they may accept for this proposal, and
I think they have to accept in the interest of the nation.

Question3: What is the necessity to use the water of Kaveri
River and its tributaries only in Karnataka?
Answer: The River Kaveri and its tributaries are the only
possible major source of water available for the land and the
people of, so called Bangalore plateau of south India. Because
most of the lands of the Bangalore plateau are above the level
of 600 mts AMSL. And the big city Bangalore is at the level of
800 to 890 mts AMSL and it is one of city which requires lot of
water for domestic purpose. And if we do not act properly at
this time then we may face serious complications related to
water scarcity in the city of Bangalore and in the lands of
Bangalore plateau, so it is the time to think about it.

Question5: Why 900mts AMSL is chosen for the purpose
of interlinking the tributaries of river Kaveri.
Answer: 900mts AMSL is the ideal height for Primary
channel 2 for interlinking the tributaries of river Kaveri. If
we go above this level, we will not get the continuous flat
land for the purpose of creation of the canal and we may
have to go inside the forest in most of the areas. If we
create the canal at the level less than 900mts AMSL then
the canal are not going to supply most of the land and the
major cities including Bangalore and Mysore.

Question5: Why 900mts AMSL is chosen for the purpose
of interlinking the tributaries of river Kaveri.
Answer: Creating canal (PC2) at 900mts AMSL will run at
the junction of the forest and the agriculture lands
supplies water to most of the major cities including
Bangalore and Mysore, will receive good amount of rain
water from the eastern part of the Western Ghats to
supply sufficient water to the Bangalore plateau.

Answer: There are many advantages,
9. We can convert all the land in Bangalore platue in to
irrigated land, we can supply any amount of water to
industries as per their requirement and there will not be
any scarcity of water for drinking and domestic purpose.
10. Farmers looking in to the sky for rain when they
require will be completely stopped.

Question7: What is the necessity to do this work of interlinking
the tributaries of river Kaveri and to utilise all the water of river
Kaveri and its tributaries in the Bangalore plateau?
Answer: Let us assess the magnitude of water requirement by
looking at one example.
It is advised by all the health authority that for maintaining a
good health by an individual, at least 200 litres of water per
person per day is required for the purposes like drinking,
cooking, washing utensils, bating, washing cloths and so on.
Let us consider the population of Bangalore city that is
1,00,00,000.

water?
Question7: What is the necessity to do this work of
interlinking the tributaries of river Kaveri and to utilise all the
water of river Kaveri and its tributaries in the Bangalore
plateau?
So, the daily requirement of water for domestic purpose to the
Bangalore city is 2,000,000,000 litres or 0.074TMC of water
and the annual requirement of the water for domestic purpose
only for Bangalore city becomes 27TMC. Next we have to look
in to the aspects like water requirement for the various
industries that are present in and around Bangalore city, the
water for the lands present around the Bangalore for
agriculture, the water for various constructions that is going on
in the Bangalore city; it may be 100TMC to put together.

Question7: What is the necessity to do this work of
interlinking the tributaries of river Kaveri and to utilise all
the water of river Kaveri and its tributaries in the
Bangalore plateau?
Which water source is going to provide the water for all
these activities? If such source is not actually present,
then that indicates that most of the people present in the
city are not leading quality life like not taking the bath
every day and not wearing washed clean cloth every day
and so on.

Question8: Is it not possible to get this amount of water just by
checking the rainwater by creating the check dams and
making the water to stay at the many small reservoirs present
in and around the Bangalore city targeting the rivers that are
present near the city like Arkavathi?
Answer: The rain fall in the catchment area of Arkavathi and /
or around Nandi hills area may not generate 100TMC of water
per annum. Let us assume that it is going to generate this
much of water during rainy season, but what is the use, if this
water will not be present throughout the year for utilisation
due to various reasons like,

Question8: Is it not possible to get this amount of water
just by checking the rainwater by creating the check dams
and making the water to stay at the many small reservoirs
present in and around the Bangalore city targeting the

1. The evaporation rate increases as the environment
temperature is more (Global warming –due to heated
vehicular and factory emissions) and the humidity is less
(Less trees).

2. The water percolates faster as there are more number of
bore wells and pumping of water continuously from it due
to increased demand leading to decreased soil moisture
or increased soil dehydration.

3. There may be continuous utilisation of water directly from
whatever water present in the small reservoirs and lakes. Thus
the number of reservoirs and lakes are decreased in and
around the places where there are more human activity. This
may be the few reasons to say, why we do not see many
reservoirs, which we were seeing one to two decades ago. This
may be the reasons for decrease in the number of reservoirs
from 600 to 40 within 10 to 20 years around Bangalore. 527

So, we have to depend on the source in such a way that the
amount of water that we get by rain or otherwise should be
more than the total amount use for domestic purpose,
industrial purpose, agriculture purpose, for evaporation, for
percolation to meet the saturation point of the earth and so
on. Not only this, and this total required amount we should get
in aliquots continuously throughout the year. The best
solution for the present demand in the Bangalore plateau is by
interlinking the tributaries of river Kaveri and utilising all the
water of river Kaveri and its tributaries only in Karnataka5. 28

Question9: How about creating only PC2 (Interlinking the
tributaries of river Kaveri) and not bothering about Tamilnadu
(Not thinking about creating PC1)?
Answer: If we do so then neither Karnataka, nor Tamilnadu is
going to benefit. If we create only PC2 then all the water of
river Kaveri will start flowing in PC2 and the water level in the
PC2 will decrease very fast because of rapid percolation in to
the soil as the soil of adjacent area that is Andrapradesh and
Tamilnadu is dry and dehydrated, which is through ground
water flow. Because of ground water flow, we may see some
springs in Tamilnadu and Andrapradesh which are adjacent to
Bangalore plateau. Thus the whole work will go waste for the
Government of Karnataka.

(Not thinking about creating PC1)?
If the soil of the adjacent land like Tamilnadu and
Andrapradesh contains adequate moisture, hydration and
ground water flow then the surface water in the canal which is
interlinking the tributaries of river Kaveri will flow in all the
areas of Bangalore plateau due to decreased percolation and
ground water flow and will be useful for domestic, agriculture
and industrial purpose through surface flow in PC2.
