2. Diagnosis of your current health condition from
Anti-aging perspective
Specific risk factors-
1. Low Vitamin D- Vitamin D keeps bones healthy and strong, helps cell
growth, and benefits immune function. Insufficient vitamin D levels can
cause your bones to become misshapen, brittle, or thin. It can also lead to
a number of health problems, including: bone softening (osteomalacia), low
bone density (osteopenia), osteoarthritis, heart disease, cancer. As Vitamin
D is important to brain function, insufficient nutrient levels may play a role in
depression and other mental illnesses.
Target Vitamin D level for you- 80-85 ng/mL
2. High Cortisol- As your body perceives stress, your adrenal glands make
and release the hormone cortisol into your bloodstream. Often called the
“stress hormone,” cortisol causes an increase in your heart rate and blood
pressure. Normal levels of cortisol also are released when you wake up in
the morning or exercise. These levels can help regulate your blood
pressure and blood sugar levels and even strengthen your heart muscle.
Risks of high cortosol levels- A) Increased blood sugar levels, B) Weight
gain, C) Suppressed immune system, D) Heart disease.
Target Cortisol level for you- 9-11 mcg/dL
3. Low DHEA-S- DHEA is a hormone made by your adrenal glands and to a
lesser degree by the ovaries and testes. In both men and women, the sex
hormones estrogen and testosterone depend on DHEA. DHEA also has a
role in the making of insulin growth factor-1 (IGF-1). IGF-1 helps with
muscle growth and insulin sensitivity. Low levels of DHEA-S are linked to
signs of aging, and include these conditions: Diabetes, Osteoporosis,
Dementia, Vaginal atrophy, or inflammation of the vagina because of
thinning and shrinking of the vaginal tissues and decreased vaginal
lubrication Reduced libido, or sex drive.
Target DHEA-S level for you- 275-300 mcg/dL
4. High TSH- The thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) test measures the
amount of TSH in the blood. The results convey how well the thyroid is
functioning. Low thyroid hormones (T3 and T4) leads to hypothyroidism viz.
fatigue, weight gain, swelling of the face and neck, increased sensitivity to
cold temperatures, dry skin, thinking hair, irregular or heavy menstrual
periods. Your TSH is just marginally high but your T3 and T4 levels are at
optimal levels. That means your thyroid is working well at the moment but
you should keep watch if you get any of the abovementioned symptoms.
3. Repeat blood test for TSH, T3, T4 levels after 3 months.
Target TSH level for you- 1.8- 2.0 mU/L
5. Low Vitamin B 12- The human body needs vitamin B12 to make red
blood cells, nerves, DNA, and carry out other functions. Like most vitamins,
B12 can’t be made by the body. Instead, it must be gotten from food or
supplements. Vitamin B12 deficiency can cause following symptoms:
strange sensations, numbness, or tingling in the hands, legs, or feet,
difficulty walking (staggering, balance problems), anemia, a swollen
inflamed tongue, difficulty thinking and reasoning (cognitive difficulties), or
memory loss, weakness, fatigue.
Target Vitamin B12 levels for you- 750-800 ng/mL
6. Low Omega 3 index- The Omega-3 Index test is a measure of the amount
of EPA and DHA in the blood, specifically the red blood cell membranes.
Low Omega-3 Index increases the risk of heart disease, elevated blood
pressure, suboptimal brain function, increased likelihood for major
depression, and other health issues. The omega 3 index is the most
important indicator of cardiovascular health.
Target Omega 3 index for you - 8 %
