Three Groups Unite To Host Political Forum

On Thursday, August 7 th, a Community Political Forum will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. It will take place at the Tampa Park Plaza, 1314 Scott Street.
The forum is the result of a partnership between several organizations including the Hillsborough County Branch NAACP, the Tampa Organization of Black Affairs, the
Tampa Bay Chapter of the National of 100 Black Women, among others.
Dr. LeRodrick Terry, (pictured left), Dean of Student Services, Hillsborough Community College, will serve as the Master of Ceremony. During the forum members of
the community will have an opportunity to present questions to the candidates seeking office.
The forum will feature candidates for local offices, such as Hillsborough County School Board District 6, and Hillsborough County Commission District 7, and County
Judges. Candidates seeking state level offices, including State House Representative District 61, and Florida Attorney General, will also be in attendance.
Ms. Yvette Lewis, (pictured center), said, "As the Political Action Chair for the NAACP, I saw the need to educate the community on the upcoming election. I reached
out to many organizations and received an overwhelming response. We have come together to educate the community about importance of voting.
"It is up to us to Inform our Community! It is up to us to Empower our Community! It is up to US! It's our Community!"
Jeffery Rhodes, (pictured right), said, "As we approach final stages of the Primary Election we are giving the community/voters a final chance to hear from the
candidates. Some the races will be decided during the primary election. We are excited with the participation and support from the Fraternities, Sororities and other
organizations in the community."
E+arly voting for the Primary Election will take place from August 14 th through August 24th . The Primary Election will be held on August 26 th .
