Anderson Walden University HUMN 6207-3, Grant Writing Dr. Frances Mills January 17, 2019 Abstract The homeless population in communities across the United States is vulnerable to physical and mental illnesses, largely due to a lack of medical treatment resources and harsh environmental conditions. Rehabilitation centers and programs aimed at closing the gap between this population’s lack of resources and medical needs can help address many of the problems this population faces. Social programs aimed at reducing homelessness or intervening in the lives of homeless populations do not necessarily extend beyond providing food, shelter, and a means to economically transition from being homeless to being a non-homeless member of society. Mental illness is one of the barriers to economic sustainability and sustenance that have been recorded in this population. The aim of the proposed program is to offer a means of treatment for this population, using a sample size of 20. Another vital aim of the program is to examine the correlation between the homeless population, their environmental circumstances, and mental illness. It is the program leaders’ hope that the program’s analyzation of the data will lead to new intervention, treatment methods, and deep understanding of how mental illness plays a role in homelessness. Keywords: homelessness, mental illness, intervention treatments Cover Letter To Whom It May Concern, An estimated 500,000 individuals are homeless in our community and are at risk of developing serious, uncontrollable health issues (Rogers, 2018). Our grant proposal’s main objective is to improve the well-being of the homeless population within our community. Besides physical ailments and diseases that may impact the homeless population, mental health issues and challenges will need to be addressed as part of this proposal. Specifically, our project seeks to reduce the prevalence of drug addiction and substance abuse amongst the homeless. Utilizing a case study research design, our project will aim to analyze data pertaining to the relationship(s) between our community’s homeless population and drug addiction/substance abuse. A sample size of 20 will be selected from the Homeless Health Education Group. The projected timeline for the project is three years. It will focus on providing psychiatric intervention, reduce health problems, and provide mental health care. A rehabilitation center will be established to meet these objectives. Technology assets will be necessary to enhance efficiency and collect data reports from the 20 members of the sample population (Gitilin & Lyons, 2014; Marchewka, 2014). Management and oversight will need to be incorporated into the proposal to ensure the project achieves its mission (Burke, 2013). The project’s projected budget expenditures total $1.638 million and its projected revenues total approx.

A diagnosis of cancer represents a significant crisis for the child and their family. As the treatment for childhood cancer has improved dramatically over the past three decades, most children diagnosed with cancer today survive this illness. However, it is still an illness which severely disrupts the lifestyle and typical functioning of the family unit. Most treatments for cancer involve lengthy hospital stays, the endurance of painful procedures and harsh side affects. Without the use of the internet and either computers or tablets we would not be able to research information that has been previously found or collected on the subject of change. For instance, my project of change was about childhood obesity, and the CDC and other organizations have posted data research showing that this has been and increasing epidemic for the last three decades. Without the help of this type of this technology resources we would always be starting from step one and never getting to finish the research based off of already completed information. Another source of technology that can be used to help treat this epidemic is the use of an APP for a type of wireless device. This give parents the opportunity for new and innovative ways of approaching childhood weight control. The aim for this type of technology advance is to “systematically design and develop a theory and evidence-driven, user-centered healthy eating app targeting parents for childhood weight management, and clearly document this for the research and app development community.” (Curtis, Lahiri, & Brown, 2015) This is still a work in progress but it is something that relates to this technology driven population now a day. I don’t know if I would personally use this part of the technology because this can be subject to user error but as far as using research to support my ideas and recommendations to help treat this epidemic, that would be hands down the best part of technology available to myself. This research was made to assess practices of primary caregivers about caring for children with acute leukemia at the Pediatric Blood Diseases Department, National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion in 2020. Methods: This was analytical-observational research with the design of cross-sectional. Results: Study on 182 primary caregivers having children with acute leukemia treated at the Pediatric Blood Diseases Department, National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion. The unsatisfactory practice of primary caregivers having children with acute leukemia accounting for 53.8%. There were 32.4% primary caregivers almost performed the wrong diet when their children had diarrhea. 38.5% primary caregivers sometimes clean their hands before and after preparing food and 33% primary caregivers sometimes clean their children’s teeth and gums properly. 28% primary caregivers sometimes encourage your children to participate in social activities. There were relationships between the educational level, the marital status, receiving health educational information and practices of primary caregivers, with p <0.05. Conclusions: The practices of primary caregivers having children with acute leukemia were low. There were relationships between educational level, marital status, receiving health educational information and practices of primary caregivers, with p <0.05.

Abstract: To document the therapeutic management in the treatment of dengue fever (DF) among the urban poor in Cebu City, Philippines, this descriptive study was conducted in the dengue hotspot areas of the city. A total of 120 respondents using the formal and non-formal interviews were used. Results revealed that children usually got inflicted with dengue fever; household monthly income was low (Php8, 000.00) with employment as the main source of income (75%). Generally, the study was able to identify the essential factors in the DF therapy management program of the urban poor. These factors were: a) the ethnocognition on the diagnosis and prognosis of the disease, b) ethnotaxonomy of healers and health providers and, c) ethnomedical practice and the health-seeking behavior of health-care givers. In this study, it was made clear that home and alternative medication in DF therapy were responses due to the lack of financial resources in the restoration of health. Although, the urban poor may have received assistance from the national and local governments, health issues were still pressing problems that national government and local governments, and local communities have to address.
