Skills, knowledge and experience:
2. Banking – Bank of Scotland/FBS/XANSA/HBOS/Lloyds Banking Group,
Scotland (Permanent)
1990/97 I joined the Bank of Scotland as a Systems Analyst working on the mainframe
Credit Card processing system (FDR) and worked in liaison with the Business
Systems team based in Pitreavie on a variety of Credit Card projects. I undertook
the analysis/investigation on a variety of projects both using batch COBOL and
on-line CICS systems. During this time I worked with senior stakeholders from
the business and gained a wealth of knowledge on the Business processes and
systems in order to deliver projects successfully, and to resolve incidents and
issues.
1997/98 I successfully project managed the Bank’s Y2K project for the Credit Card
System. I was also part of the FDR systems’ on-call rota and responsible for
resolving incidents of various severities, ensuring customers were not adversely
impacted by the issues and could continue to use their credit cards as normal.
1998/99 I joined the ‘Smart Card’ Development Team. During my time in that team I
successfully project managed the Bank’s pilot scheme for Integrated Chip Card for
both their Debit and Credit Card systems. I also successfully managed the Bank’s
e-purse project (Mondex).
1999/2001 I moved into the Application Support Team. This area deals with ‘fix on fail’,
recoveries, queries and minor enhancements. I was leading a team of 30 people
supporting all the Bank’s systems (which were not Branch related), e.g.
Autotellers, Debit and Credit Cards, Telephone Banking and Home and Office
Banking
2001/04 I was asked to work on the development of a new Credit card sub system – CCF
(Credit Card Fulfilment). I was involved in all aspects of the Project life cycle to
ensure this project was successfully implemented on time and to business
requirements.
2004 – present In my current position, I joined a team initially working on the integration of Bank
of Scotland and Halifax Credit Card Management Systems - Base 2000. This was
mainly a mixture of Development work and Application Support (resolving
incidents and ensuring any recoveries resulted in a seamless customer experience).
My main IBM ZOS Mainframe skills are, CICS, COBOL, Easytrieve, JCL,
Connect:Direct, Fileaid, DB2, MQ and TWS (Tivoli Workload Scheduler).
I am thoroughly conversant with all aspects of the Project development life cycle.
During my time in the Base 2000 team, I have been the technical lead on, and
successfully implemented, the following larger Projects:-
Twice yearly Visa and MasterCard Scheme Compliance Releases
IPK (Issuer Public Key) renewals
Cards Simplification hHBOS migration
MasterCard Authorisation Length Expansion
Visa and MasterCard Account Updater
Re-segmenting the Base 2000 card base
Most of these projects involve liaising with all stakeholders (IT PM, Business PM,
3. DSM (Development and Service Manager), Service Delivery Teams and 3rd
Parties, including Visa, MasterCard, Fidelity Information Systems, Embossing
Bureaux).
I have been heavily involved in Base 2000 knowledge transfer to both our
offshore and onshore partners. I have also undertaken on call support rota KT to
partner resource.
For over 10 years I was part of the Base 2000 on call support rota. This involved
Investigating and fixing any systems issues out with normal working hours and
working to tight deadlines and SLAs, for resolutions and recoveries. When the
severity of the incident is high, this can also involve meetings/conference calls
with IT Incident Management and other parties (IT Service Delivery, Third
Parties, Customers, etc.).
As part of my existing role, I’m also an SME involved in LBG Landing Area
strategic platform. This role includes an SME Governance role for Vision Plus
(Third party Credit Card suppliers) platform Releases. I also have a good working
knowledge of the Cards BI and SSA (Securitisation) platforms. I am currently
working on 3 projects on the Debit Card CMAS (Card Management and
Authorisation System).
