1. 2/2001 – 3/2003 Ameren Services, St. Louis, MO
Title: OPERATING SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR
Primary responsibilities were to finish the implementation and support of the Customer Service System
(CSS), from a mainframe environment to a MC/Service Guard clustered environment using HP V2600
and V2500 servers; the system handles Ameren’s’ entire Customer Billing, Gas Meter Reading, and
Customer Call Center activity.
Planned, implemented, and supported the installation of a new SAN environment for all of Ameren
Services.
This was a switched fabric environment using EMC’s Connectrix product utilizing 4-32 port Connectrix
switches (McData), and 2-16 port Brocade Silkworm switches. An IBM Mainframe was also connected
using ESCONchannels.
EMC frames included Symmetrix series 8730 (20TB), 8530 (14TB) and 3930 (8TB).
Installed and configured and EMC Clariion CX600 series array.
Symmetrix series arrays were in an M1/M2 (Raid 1) configuration and the Clariion was setup as a Raid
5 configuration.
All servers and FA’s to storage arrays were zoned and had full redundancy to avoid a single point of
failure.
Installed and utilized EMC Control Center 5.1.
Installed all software and agents onto all of the above mentioned platforms and assisted in configuring
any system files requiring changes to support the EMC drives and SAN environment.
Kept administrators advised of new HBA drivers and firmware changes as needed.
Configured BCV’s (Business Continuity Volumes) to support quick recovery of the Customer Service
System.
Wrote scripts to take production snapshots twice a day on the production server.
Set up a second set of BCV’s that ran weekly to create a snapshot of the CSS production database
that was then mounted to the Support and Development server.
