3. USE CASE STUDY
Adopted Child
Bella had not yet been adopted by her eighth birthday. Having entered the system at a very young age,
Bella had already experienced five foster homes. Bella struggled in school. Having been moved between
three different elementary schools by the third grade. As much as she tried, Bella could not keep up with
the ever changing curriculum and requirements of each separate school
she attended.
Statistically Bella’s age had exceeded the average age of adoption and
because of her failing grades, low self esteem and continued outbursts
brought on by constant instability in her relationships and home life, Bella
became viewed as a “difficult placement case” by her caseworkers,
further complicating her situation.
Bella was gifted a sponsored TreasureBoxS. She began filling it with
scanned copies of her best saved school work. She spent her time
gathering remnants she had held onto from her past and archiving them
into her personal LegacyBox. Soon after creating her own LegacyBox,
Bella began creating a TreasureBox with her current foster family.
The TreasureBox grew and so did the relationship with her host family.
Bella grew very close to her foster sister Joan, and their bond was
solidified through Bella’s final adoption in the spring of the following year.
The family continues to add to their shared TreasureBoxS and Bella
continues to add to her personal story.
Child awaiting adoption
Christopher had already been in the foster care system for six years, when
at the age of 10 he was introduced to TreasureBoxS. Christopher began
building his Legacybox, inserting all of his previous photos and memories
into a compilation of his life’s story. Having an outlet to put his feelings
and showcase the people and events that had made up his life helped
Christopher to cope with past experiences and gave him confidence to
focus on the positive outcomes of his fostered life.
While building his own life’s story, Christopher began building a
TreasureBox along with his current foster family. Together they filled the
TreasureBox with all of their photos and memories. The family became
inspired to create more happy healthy moments so they could add to
and build their BoxS.
Christopher eventually left the home and moved to kinship care where
he lived between his grandmothers home and foster care for the next
two years. Within that time Christopher built TreasureBoxS with his
grandmother, uncle and the families he visited. Each time Christopher
created a TreasureBox with a relative or supporting family he was able to
focus on the positive aspects of the experience, building a support
system around himself that he will be able to rely on for a lifetime.

5. SECURED, SAFE & BACKED UP
Security is of the Utmost Importance here at Box Sync,Inc.
To date, many parents in these situations have been encouraged to
create FaceBook pages or their own websites.
The problem with these systems is that they are neither safe or secure nor
can they be archived for future generations.
Treasure BoxS solves these concerns via a closed system of
communication that is safe for both the
parent and the child. This information is
extremely personal and the company
treats the security of it as its top priority. The
system has high end encryption, is COPA
compliant and each box is stored and
backed up in servers across the country to
ensure its safety and longevity.
THE SOLUTION
FOSTER CARE
PERSPECTIVE
A major concern of
the
foster
care
system
today
is that
many children grow
up with no recorded
history of their past.
TreasureBoxS allows
foster parents and
foster children alike,
to archive and save
their precious
moments and
memories.
The
Treasure
Box
belongs
to the
child and
follows the child
throughout their life,
giving the child the
ability to record and
revisit their past
while providing a
valuable tool to
express their feelings
at any time.

Legacy BoxS
Your Autobiography
Legacy BoxS is an online resource for people to
create a visual and written representation of
themselves that will live on forever. Unlike
online memorials, which are created after
someone passes, Legacy BoxS are for people
to record their own life stories through favorite
pictures, journal entries and much more. Over
thousands of years, generations have passed
down stories and mementos to their children, but in this culture that is
inundated with technology, we have yet to establish a tool to collect
them digitally for this purpose.

PERSPECTIVE
As a teenage child I
became very close
with my foster sister
Shondra.
Though
our time
together
was
limited,
we were
able to
create TreasureBoxS
for one another.
We have used the
TreasureBoxS over
the years to stay in
touch and share our
life experiences with
one another.
Having each others
support has helped
us to both
grow into
strong,

adults.
I am
uplifted by Shondra’s
entries and her ability
to overcome extreme
difficulties.
Our friendship
remains strong to this
day.
