Values Angels Foster Care of Santa Barbara believes that you can change the life of a child forever . By fostering a baby or toddler, you can provide the care and nurturing that these children so desperately need. They value placing these children in safe and exceptional family homes where they can continue to thrive and get the scaffolding they need.
Mission The Angels mission is to act in an informed way by rescuing abused, abandoned, and neglected young children, match them with a select group of foster parents, and ensure a substantive amount of emotional, social, and intellectual development of each child. Angels Foster Care of Santa Barbara provides these children with loving health and stable environments where they can learn to bond, trust, and live a prosperous life.
The Angels Parenting Program Foster Parent Training: Our acclaimed Angels Parenting Program teaches you not only to ask questions but to question the quality of what practical parenting skills is all about. Subsequently following up with how to identify the key principles of development and psychology required to raise a happy, well-adjusted child It is vital that these children’s hopes and dreams to have a home and be a part of a family are not dissipated but instead embraced whole heartedly.
Parenting Program cont… Our program includes: PRIDE training: Developed by the Child Welfare League of America, this is the standard in foster parent training. Bonding/Attachment Theory: Teaches you how to develop empathy and trust with your baby or toddler. A requisite for becoming a foster parent.
Parenting Program cont… Touchpoints: Pediatrician T. Berry Brazelton's program explains child development "from a physical, cognitive, emotional, and behavioral point of view."By reading this it is helping you to link ideas to life situations and how to deal with it. Infant Care: Information on how to specifically care for infants.
Community Need The Angels Foster Care of Santa Barbara helps unite the community in providing a loving and safe environment for these helpless children to live in. This program has a high need for people of all communities to reach out and help however they can. There are a lot of folks who are much more fortunate than others and could open up their homes and help provide these kids with real homes of their own.
Inputs Volunteer foster parents within the community Donations - Baby Formula, diapers, diaper bags, car seats, strollers, etc….
Inputs cont… Contributions – funded by private donations from philanthropic individuals, companies, and foundations. Angels welcomes financial contributions, in-kind donations of products, and volunteer donations of services. Other assistance –if you have some other product, skill, service, or connection to bring to the Angels foster care center
Processes Parent screening: Only the most highly qualified families can become Angels foster parents. By carefully screening our candidate families, we ensure that each child has a safe, loving home. Among other requirements, Angels certifies that each parent has a good driving record, good health, no criminal background, and the proper training (with help from Angels) to ensure safe and effective parenting.
Processes Every foster baby deserves a safe and comfortable home. Angels inspects each foster home to ensure compliance with health and fire codes, and to help parents prepare a hazard-free environment for their young child.
Outputs Angels participates in long-term studies to gauge the effectiveness of their programs, and to provide future childcare providers with concrete data on the effectiveness of different foster programs. Angels works with hospitals, children's shelters, and county agencies, who refer babies to them for placement with loving, well-trained, certified Angels families.
Outcome By taking a chance on a child and opening your door to them you are changing that child’s life. With out angels…these children would be left out on the streets. Such instability would be difficult for anybody, but for a tiny, still developing baby, the effects are staggering. That is why it is crucial that these children get placed in loving family homes. These children will be able to know what its like to be a part of a family and to live in a stable rich and loving environment.
Link to CT/CR/CA This program obviously involves a lot of critical thinking and critical reading that would be followed by critical action. In order to help these helpless children people need to ask questions, how can they help? People need to resolve any questions and doubts at the same time they need to question the quality, whether or not they are ready to make this type of commitment in fostering and help raise a child.
Link to CT/CR/CA cont… In order to succeed at fostering a child you must engage in active reading of the books provided by the pediatricians listed on the website, on how a child develops from a physical, cognitive, emotional, and behavioral point of view. When doing so you are to link ideas to life situations and to understand your own purpose in reading it. Finally you will take the information given and take action on your own behalf.
Appeal to Funding Institution The Thinking foundation would be a great choice for this non profit organization. Because the thinking foundations main focus is on academic needs, diversity in cultures and language, it would only seem fit that these foster kids can also get the special help in these fields as well. By getting the proper assistance from this institute they will become affluent as well as well rounded in today’s society.
Personal Appeal I have a child of my own and I couldn’t imagine him being homeless or in an orphanage for that matter. Children are so pure and innocent, they depend on us as parents or adults to show them the way and teach them right from wrong. Not only would I become a foster parent but I definitely intend on adopting in the near future. There is nothing in the world I am more zealous about than children and making sure they are loved and cared for in a safe home.
