3. ● Sanjeem noted in under the statement of the problems that, The play “Final
Solutions” deals with such serious and all pervasive problems of communal hatred and
bias that has created India an eerie land to live on. But the problem of the present study
lies whether secularism is ill-treated or unsuitable in India’s socio-political
scenario.(SANJEEB)
● Politics could have saved the nation from making social life quite constrained
contaminated by communal hatred and animosity but instead it has involved in a
mud throwing politics and has debilitated socio-political condition of
India.(SANJEEB)
4. ● Ethinic Violence, Threats to Secularism and Communal Distrust
“Chorus1 (pounding with his stick):
Send...them...back. (Pause)
Chorus4 (questioning): Send them back?
Chorus2 (pounding with stick):
Drive...them...out. (Pause)
Chorus5 (questioning) Drive...them...out?
Chorus 3: Kill the sons of swine! ”(FS)
Ranchi: Two Muslim Youth Beaten up by ‘Jai Shri Ram’ Sloganeering Mob
Zeeshan and Faizan say they had stepped out to get pizza from a nearby Domino's
near Sujata Chowk when they were attacked. Both have sustained head
injuries.12/JUN/2022
5. Communal Distrust
Javed was a man of flesh and blood and full of mercy although he was harsh in his
demeanor, he could not kill the purohit and threw the knife he was given but
somebody else took the knife and stabbed the purohit that caused a huge uproar and
was followed by communal conflict. Both Hindus and Muslims tried to slay one
another.
● In Act III, the conversation between Ramnik and Javed rises to such
a crescendo that Javed speaks his heart out in vehemence and inflicts the
attack on a community which appears inimical to him:
Ramnik: Why do you distrust us?
Javed: Do you trust us?
Ramnik: I don’t go about throwing stones!
Javed: But you do something more violent. You provoke! You
make me throw stones! Every time I look at you, my bile rises!(FS)
6. ● India but in 1984 India‟s Prime Minister Indira Gandhi
was assasinated by her two Sikh bodyguards
in retaliation for her ordering the Indian Army to attack
the Golden Temple in Amritsar to capture Sikh terrorists
taking refuge there. As a result thousands of Sikhs were
murdered throughout India.(Parmar)
● The killings started late that evening. National television
had a continuous broadcast of footage of Indira Gandhi’s
body, surrounded by crowds shouting “Khoon ka badla
khoon” (“Seek blood for blood”)
● “Khoon ka badla khoon” – on and on it went, repeated
over and over again and broadcast to the nation. Rumour
was rife; trains were arriving from Punjab with the Hindu
passengers having all been killed by the Sikhs onboard;
Sikhs were celebrating and distributing sweets; Sikhs had
poisoned the water supply of Delhi.
7. ● M K Gandhi pointed in his book ‘Gandhi and Communal Problems’
I know that there is much, too much destruct of one another as yet. Many Hindus distrust
Musalman's honesty. They believe that Swaraj means Musalman Raj, for they argue that without
the British, Musalmans of India will aid Musalman power to build a Musalman empire in India
Musalmans, on the other hand, fear that the Hindus being in an overwhelming majority will
smother them. Such an attitude of mind betokens impotence on either's part. If not their desire to
live in peace would dictate a policy of mutual trust and mutual forbearance.
“I can only guess and my guess (as to the real cause; whether remote or immediate, of the
frequent riots and difference between Musalman and Hindus in North India and of their absence
or infrequency in south India) is that the two communities quarrel more frequently in the North
because they are more equally balanced than in South. Where riots do take place, they occur
because both think communally and because either fears or distrusts the other, and because
neither has the courage or the foresight to forgo the present for the sake of the future, or the
communal interests for the sake of the national.”
