HYPERTENSION: A SILENT KILLER
People tend to follow the unproductiveand unhealthy way of Living due to
the existence of Technology and the Demands of Living. Thus, mostpeople forgot
the simple way of living and embracing the new one. However, people of today
get easily sick, hospitalized or become worst, becauseof unhealthy lifestyle. As
they continue, they develop such illnesses like High blood pressureor
hypertension- “A Lifestyle Disease” or popularly known the Silent Killer.
Itis a common and Dangerous condition. Having High Blood pressure
means the pressureof the blood in blood vessels is higher than it should be.
About 1 out of 3 Adults or about 75 million people haveHigh blood pressure
under control.
Itis called Silent Killer because it has often no warning signs or symptoms
and many people do not know they have it. Uncontrolled High Blood Pressure
lead to heart Disease, stroke, Kidney disease, Diabetes Mellitus and even death.
To address the needs of the people the Governmentheaded by the Department
of Health (DOH) decided to give free medications and maintenance to those
diagnosed Clients nationwide. Aside fromthat, thorough Health Education and
Promotion of Healthy Lifestyle was implemented in order to decreasethe higher
incidents rate of High Blood Pressurein the Philippines.
