MBQ was a general who led an army to conquer Sindh in the name of the Umayyad Caliphate. He told his men that if they were victorious, it would establish their kingdom, but if he was killed honorably in battle, it would be remembered in history. He ordered his men to kill any combatants and take their sons and daughters hostage, but grant safety to those who did not fight on the condition they pay tribute. Sindh is considered the "Gate of Islam" due to MBQ's conquest, which brought the region under Muslim rule for the first time.
