Management
Client
Established in 2009, Public Romance operates as a niche clothing
retailer. The vintage items are hand selected individually while the
non-vintage items are manufactured by independent businesses
and purchased from wholesalers in small quantities. This ensures
that the items on sale are exclusive due to rarity and has allowed
Public Romance to build a loyal customer base.
In order to assist with her decision making and
analysing stock, the client needed an inventory
system that would allow her to keep track of her
stock and help in deciding which items needed to
be ordered or discontinued. The project team
developed an inventory tracking application that
addresses the users needs.
Application Project Management
The team decided to use an agile project management
methodology to develop the application in order to be
flexible and ensure the users needs would be met with the
end product.
The product backlog was made up of the user stories
created and the user stories determined the outcome of
each sprint. There were 7 sprints in total.

TechnologyRequirements
Requirements gathering and analysis was an iterative process.
Requirements were gathered throughout the project duration via a
variety of methods.
Public Romance is a
seller of Independent
clothes labels and
vintage clothes located
in Galway city centre.
The business is owner
managed and has one
part-time staff member.
Meetings - Our initial requirements gathering was
done via meeting the client and we had another
meeting to elaborate and explore further
requirements afterwards.
Email – this was a quick and effective method to ask
questions and confirm details with the client.
Research of similar systems - by researching
inventory systems, it allowed us to discover which
essential features should be included in the
application.
Feedback – by sharing our work with the client,
including low and high fidelity prototypes, it allowed
us to adjust the application to meet the users needs.
ClientUser Centric Design Free open-source JavaScript platform for creating web apps.
MEAN stands for MongoDB, Express, AngularJS and Node.js.
• MongoDB – document based schema less NoSQL database.
• Express – a lightweight framework to better package code.
• Angular JS – Simplified front end development framework.
• Node.js – a fast runtime environment for server side apps.
JavaScript is the common language across all tiers: client, server
and database. The MEAN stack enables a perfect harmony of
JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) development.
