2. Explain the task and how you approached it
The task was to create a short film introducing student life at college , I
approached it with confidence as I used my experience as I am a new student
and helped my group come up with ideas for the footage.
My ideas consisted of footage of students entering the Bede Campus through
reception as every student has to walk through them doors when they need to
be in college. Some of my other ideas were to go to The Refectory as this is
where most students and lecturers will go to get their Breakfast , Lunch and
snacks . I also put out the idea to go to the common room also known as ”The
Den” which is where students can go to in their spare time and relax and watch
TV or play pool . Ping pong and table football , also for those gamers they also
allow you to go in there and play the new PlayStation 4 !
In the roles I was the photographer and everyone else was the ones being filmed
, and everyone contributed with their ideas.
3. In detail tell us about the filming process
In the filming process everyone in the group knew what to do. Me as being
the photographer and filmer I tried to ensure that I done close ups of people
and different angled pictures. Whilst filming I directed my group to have a
conversation so I could film it and it would look just as normal as a student
who was in the common room where Steven Day would kindly welcome you
into the room and give you a briefing about the room , what it offers and the
ground rules of being in there.
When I was filming we discussed as a group to pick the most used places in
the campus which students tend to like to go to. These places consisted of
The Common Room , The Library , The Refectory , Starbucks , Bede Building
and The Visual Performing Arts building.
4. Talk about the editing process.
The editing process was mainly allocated to Emelia and Iesha who were more
comfortable with editing them when we were filming. As a group though we
inputted ideas and Anthony and Jake were looking up soundtracks to fit with the
video. The girls were confident with the groups ideas but I feel we still need to learn
a bit more about the software we were using.
5. Final Product
I think for a first time shooting as the group I think we done good but we
defiantly have room to improve. As I don’t think we put much though into
how we took the pictures and exactly where we took the pictures. I also
think our group needed to take the task more seriously however it was the
beginning of the year so we didn’t know each other so it was a little bit
awkward however I do think we did work well and got along with each
other. We need to get more familiar with Premiere Pro as we struggled
using it and knowing where things were and also communicating as a
team as I feel some parts we worked separately . Other than that I believe
we done well and that as our first group we accepted each other nicely.
