Yoga originated over 15,000 years ago when seven sages approached a yogi to teach them methods of spiritual practices. Over many years and decades of practice, the sages were able to transcend physical limitations under the yogi's guidance. The yogi became known as Adiyogi, meaning the first yogi. According to ancient texts, yoga is described as a means of unifying the individual spirit with the universal spirit of God through techniques like meditation, pranayama (breathing exercises), and asanas (physical postures). Modern science has shown that regular yoga practice can increase gray matter in the brain and reduce the brain's reaction to pain. It also lowers stress, anxiety, blood pressure
