Learners will choose a media company, (from a given list) and produce a 1000 word case-
study on that company.
Choose from, Disney, Apple, Sony (& SyCo), News Corporation, Google
Apple is not run by a Media sector because it is all run by one big company which is it self
(Apple), and this is a use of Vertical Integration. Apple produces quite a lot of products such
as phone’s, computers, iPad’s and a lot more, also so Apple can make more money they have
decided too make there own music download website so they are not using another
company’s use of music.
APPLE
Apple owns this company because seeming in as though it is a Vertical Integrated
company, apple control absolutely everything with a range from hardware
production to music on your phone so they have created ITunes and lots more so
you can download apps, from them doing this they will earn a large amount of
money because they own everything so all the money goes to one company so this
is a huge Advantage. The ownership of this company has not changed because
they are still a vertically integrated company so they still own everything. This
company (Apple) still does not own any other company’s because I think that they
are fine with the huge money making Apple it self.
This company is organized by vertical integrated and this term means that only this one
company has control over Apple. The advantages of vertical integration is that only one
company collects all of the money so this known to earn more money than a horizontal
integrated company. But a major disadvantage with a vertically integrated company is that if
the company does happen to go bankrupt they will have to pay a major loan to pay back
because this company is worth a lot of money!
This vertical integrated company has many competitors because they have to go up against
other vertical integrated company such as Disney so it has quite a major competitor so
sometimes they debate over maybe if we should go over to a horizontal integrated company
so they can probably get a better distributer and create better products if they join up with a
hardware production company.
Apple has quite a large range of customers within it’s company because it suits
many needs for its target audience so therefore this company may earn much
more money. This shop on the other hand probably has millions of customers per
day because they sell good products in there store which is making technology
even bigger as we get further into the future. Although apple is such a large
company they still match many need of its target audience if it is based on
demographic profiling based on gender, age, race and lots more. By looking at
demographic profiling you can quite easily tell that apple will aim there products
at upper class people because there products are worth a lot of money so they will
tend to aim there products at rich people so they can earn more money of things
such as an apple mac which is worth about £1000.
One of the major implications of this company was when Steve Jobs died
because they probably would have been a bit confused because without
him there would have been a big change to make because they didn’t
know how to create his products exactly. But mainly they will have a
pyramid of high ranked people to see who will take charge next when the
major boss retires someone will need to take over to keep the company
going for as long as possible.
Yes! Apple has had a problem because when the IPhone six first came out
people discovered that the IPhone six bends not like any other phone so it called
quite a lot of confusion because no other phone has ever done this before so this
was quite a bad turning point for Apple, so they could have lost many customers
and probably a bit of money because some people would have forced for a
refund so they would have loosed some money at this turning point.
