- August 29,2015 Departure Day I awoke and took a bit of time getting up. Prayers to God for a safe and moving journey to this land He created and sent His son Jesus to tread in earthly form. I’m going to a place in the world I’ve never been before, Holy, Holy, Holy. Yes, the roots of my faith. I’m taking the Bible my late mother gave me in 1992. Thank you Lord!
- Grateful to God, made it to Tel Aviv Israel safely...Stopover in Brussels then on to Israel. As the plane approached, I felt a sense of familiarity with the landscape. Desert like, and since I used to live in Phoenix, this was welcoming. Tour group met for dinner. Pictures include flying into Tel Aviv across the Mediterranean Sea, beach (got a chance to put my feet in the water),City scape of TelAviv, at dinner in window of hotel by the sea ...Busy touring days ahead...guide is well versed in Biblical history... 7 hour time difference ahead of EST here...
- Toured the 4000 year old port city of Jaffa this evening (known as Joppa in the bible), where Jonah caught a boat to Tarshish trying to get away from God. city view, and full moon night at Jaffa and plaque of this historic city... Jonah 1:3. Now it’s very modern, a suburb of Tel Aviv, right on the Mediterranean Sea.
- This is a church dedicated to the Apostle Peter, who was also in Jaffa (Joppa) where he raised Tabitha(Dorcas) from the dead in Acts 9:36 -43.
- Tour included stops at Caesarea, looking at Rome's history in Israel where King Herod had a castle, Apostle Peter went here to baptize Cornelius in Acts 10. Apostle Paul was here in Acts 9 & 18 &23 (imprisoned). Paul also sailed from the port here on some of his missionary journeys.
- Fortification gate area at the ruins of Megiddo — in Megiddo, Israel. Found in Revelation 16:16 known as Armageddon, a place of many battles, mentioned in Joshua 12:21 Statue of the prophet Elijah on Mount Caramel Israel1 Kings 18:16-45 where God sent fire — in Israel.
- NAZARETH, I read the scripture at Mount Precipice, Luke 4: 17-24 ,29-30, where Jesus was rejected after reading in the synagogue Cana, where Jesus performed His first miracle turning water to wine, and Church of the Annunciation, believed to be the spot where the angel Gabriel told Mary that she would birth our Lord and Savior. Inside of the Church of the Annuniciation,on the spot where Mary was told of the Virgin Birth and Jesus spent His early years in Nazareth — at Basilica of the Annunciation.
- What an awesome God I serve! Stepping and sailing in the Sea of Galilee where Jesus did both along with the disciples. Also known as Lake Kinneret. Scripture speaks of the storms on this sea where Jesus performed miracles of halting the raging seas, Luke 8:22-25 and walking on water. Matthew 14:22-33
- Really enjoying the knowledge and memories shared on my first trip to Israel of the Holy Land sites. Thanks to America Israel Travel on all they do in organizing these journeys. Today sailed the Sea of Galilee and then a visit to the site where this ancient boat is housed. Dated to First Century BCE, it could be the same type of boat in which Jesus sailed on.
- Walking in the steps of Jesus. Amen! Today the town of Capernaum where He worshipped in the synagogue along with Peter had a presence there and a statue of Apostle Peter in Capernaum with Sea of Galilee in the backdrop — at Capernaum.
- Today was Holy Ghost power day for sure. 'I stood on the bank of the Jordan.' A baptism service for our tour group at the Jordan River. I read from Mark 1:9-11 when John baptized Jesus and a Lutheran pastor in our group baptized 9 fellow travelers. As each person went down, I sang 'Take me to the water to be baptized.' Had listened to Nina Simone sing it this morning on YouTube...Didn't want to leave this site, a powerful moving experience. Thank you Lord! This is not the actual site (closer to Jordan), but due to political and tourism reasons, many come here.
- Site of Jesus's sermon on the mount — at Sea of Galilee. Matthew chapters 5-7. He gave it so that we would learn to ‘be all we can be.’
- Information scroll of Jesus feeding the 5,000 with fish and bread — in Tiberias, Israel. Garden sculpture of loaves and fish. Matthew 14:13-21. What an awesome God who provides. He’s a force multiplier!
- We rode into the Golan Heights area to Caesarea Philippi Mark 8:27-29. Jesus confirmed that He was the Christ for the first time. The springs located here feed into the Jordan River.
- So much to discover in the Holy Land...Finished up yesterday with a trip to the lowest mass on earth, The Dead Sea with its high salt content (33%, good for what ails you in your bones)...Known as the Salt Sea in the Bible…Genesis 14:3 . Some research suggests this is the site close to Sodom and Gomorrah and where Lot’s wife turned into a pillar of salt. Resort at the Dead Sea, watching sun rise over mountains in Jordan, — at Herods Dead Sea.
- Cave area where David hid from the jealous King Saul1 Samuel 24:1 — at Ein Gedi.
- Qumran Caves Bedouin shepherd found the Dead Sea Scrolls in the1950s.
- Jerusalem! Words can’t describe what it means and feels like. Very surreal, still pinching myself. With the Dome of the Rock in the background (also known as Mount Moriah).Matthew 21:10-11 When He had entered Jerusalem, all the city was stirred, saying, "Who is this?" 11And the crowds were saying, "This is the prophet Jesus, from Nazareth in Galilee.“ Church on Palm Sunday road with view of Dome of the Rock (Mount Moriah) and the wall around Jerusalem — in Palm Sunday in Jerusalem.
- Garden, Church and Plaque noting where Jesus prayed just before being arrested — at Garden Of Gethsemane, Jerusalem, Israel. Matthew 26:36-46 Jesus knows what is coming. The disciples couldn’t watch and pray, they kept falling asleep. Jesus knew, remains faithful.
- Image of Jesus arrest and being taken to the home of Caiaphas, the high priest who plotted against him..A church now sits over this spot with excavations being done to show where Jesus was held in a pit there — at House of Caiaphas. I remembered and recited some of the words to Lead Me To Calvary here…Very emotional. Lest I forget Gethsemane,Lest I forget Thine agony;Lest I forget Thy love for me,Lead me to Calvary
- Where the shepherds received the Good news from angels about the birth of Jesus...Glory to God in the Highest! Luke 2:9-15. Reminded me of the Christmas song, While shepherds watched their flocks by night, all seated on the ground, an angel of the Lord came down, and glory shone around.
- 2nd floor window on the left is thought to be the Upper Room site — at Upper Room, Jerusalem. I read the scripture here. Luke 22:7-23. This was so powerful. Communion, which I always get emotional at church during this sacred service. Broken body, shedding of the blood to come.
- Bethlehem...Glory to His name. Birthplace of Jesus Christ! Scenes from the town and Church of the Nativity where a lower level cave area marks the location of our Lord and Savior's earthly entry. Luke 2:1-20. Pinched myself...unreal at times.. Blessed and grateful to be here in this place. Lower level of the Church of the Nativity with an altar marking the location of Jesus's birth. — at Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem.
- Scenes from Bethlehem...of course there's a commercial aspect to this sacred place. And politics of this geographic region are evident. — in Bethlehem, West Bank.
- Holy, Holy, Holy! Started the day at Jerusalem's Temple Mount gates, southern wall where Jesus entered and threw out sellers. Matthew 21:12,the Western Wall (known as the Wailing Wall) for prayers. Posted one as requested for a local pastor in Leesburg where I live. This wall chosen because it's the closest to Mount Moriah location on Temple Mount where Abraham was to sacrifice Isaac, lessons on faith and obedience. standing by the southern gate on the east end of the Temple Mount where Jesus would enter the temple and drive out those who dishonored this place (sellers, moneychangers)
- A few pics from Pool of Bethesda where Jesus healed the man who'd been waiting for 38 years John 5:1-8...I love this scripture and used it in my writings on health and excuses(pre licensing). Do you want to be well? The pool area was expansive. Sang Amazing Grace with a few tour companions in a church near this site.
- Reflecting on this unbelievable and amazing journey to the Holy Land... My foot on the actual pavement that Jesus stepped on as he started down the Via Dolorosa, Way of Suffering... Station where Simon of Cyrene helped Jesus carry the cross. 14 Stations of the Cross as Jesus journeyed to Calvary in His Father‘s Will..

Beautiful inside of the church that now sits over where Jesus was crucified at Golgotha — Church Of The Holy Seplechure, Jerusalem,Israel. Walking the Via Dolorosa...Calvary in site marked by the cross on the dome ahead, imagining Jesus was on the way to the cross — at Via Dolorosa.
- At the Garden Tomb where Jesus was buried provided by a wealthy Joseph of Arimathea ...in John 19:38. And 3 days later...He rose! — at The Garden Tomb. We had communion here and I led the group in singing “I know it was the blood for me…” Amen.. He Lives!
- End of Israel tour. Grateful to the Most High God for this amazing opportunity to celebrate two milestones in my life for 2015: 60th birthday and new birth in Christ as a licensed preacher. In these ancient lands of Israel and Greece I have stepped where Jesus and the disciples walked and sailed...eaten the foods of the Bible...figs, dates, olives...Indescribleable experience...still hasn't really sunk in that I've been in these places...And met some nice people. Praise Him, Merciful and Mighty... This is the group I toured the Holy Land with...from all parts of US...photo courtesy of the company that organizes these trips America Israel Travel....Schedule was grueling, changed hotels 4 times, out by 8 am to visit sites until 5pm, lots of walking and climbing in the heat, then refresh and dinner...Praise God no one got really sick or hurt...I was particularly inspired by an 80 year old couple who trudged on in great shape...Lesson: Keep living and doing!
- Still on the journey of faith and exploration for a few more days…On to Greece, a view of some of its many islands from the plane. I’d wanted to go here for a couple of reasons. First, I'd taken Greek archaeology in undergraduate school and wanted to see these structures and mythology. And continuing my visiting sites of the Bible, where the Apostle Paul had been, wrote in the spread of Christianity to the Greeks. Arrived and went to the Acropolis Museum. with a view of this wonder the background of the Parthenon.
- Day trip to ancient Corinth in Greece and the time that apostle Paul spent there spreading the gospel by preaching and writing... I'm standing on a platform (bema) that he spoke from while under attack judgment for his doing as God instructed... Acts 18:12-17..a church named St Paul not far from the archaeological site...A sign with information about apostle Paul's journey to Corinth — in Ancient City Of Corinth, Greece. Standing where the apostle Paul was while being attacked for spreading the gospel to the Greeks — in Ancient City Of Corinth, Greece.
- The apostle Paul was in Athens talking to the Greeks about the one true God and stood on top of Mars Hill, or the Aeropaegus....see Acts 17 and one of my favorite verses is 28 where he states 'For in him we live and move and have our being.' As some of your own poets have said, 'We are his offspring.'.. Yes indeed! Thank you Jesus! I climbed up to Mars Hill.
