APOBEC is an
intracellular protein,
which fights viruses, it
only can modify single-
stranded DNA. However,
researchers have
observed how some
mutations have been
induced in human DNA
by this protein.

7. 20% of mutations caused by
APOBEC, originate from an
abnormality in the DNA:
““double-stranded breaks”,
this process leaves for a
period of time, a part of DNA
in a single-stranded state.
The remaining 80% is caused
for the participation of
APOBEC, when the lagging
straight remains single-
stranded.

8. This protein reaches its effects
and acts as a marker of a
default in the replication
mechanism in the affected
cells, and it be the perfect
access for a mutagen agent.

9. In my opinion, the progress in the
knowledge is reached through
teamwork of multiple disciplines of
knowledge, as molecular biology,
medicine, technology and
epidemiology. Cancer is a disease that
requires this interdisciplinary work, to
know which are its causes in the
interior and exterior of the body, and to
know what cause mutation during the
DNA replication.

Treat Liposarcoma.

11. Liposarcoma is a rare
cancer of the connective
tissues, it is a type of soft-
tissue sarcoma that occurs
in fat cells. Some of the
patients who have been
diagnosed with liposarcoma,
they have received
chemotherapy that
contained an anthracycline
drug, that is an anti-tumor
antibiotic that interferes with
the enzymes involved in
DNA replication.

12. Recently, the U.S. Food
and Drug Administration
approved Halavent to
treat patients with
liposarcoma and that
have received
chemotherapy with this
antibiotic.

13. Researches show, this
medicament has a
powerful effect on tumors,
because it blocks cell
division.
The disadvantage of the
use of Halaven is: lower
white blood cell count, this
increases the risk of
serious infections and
changes in heartbeat.

14. I think it is very good that the new
therapeutic treatments that are
developed to increase the survival rate,
their effect is improve the symptomology
and they comply with all features, such
as, the treatments are accessible to the
population that has the disease, they
have higher profit and they are safe for
the patients.

medical scent because they
contribute to strengthen the
knowledge of some disease, as
cancer, this pathology is one of
the main causes of morbidity in
the world and every year
increase the number of people
dying because of this.

critical thinking about
which is the
appropriated
diagnostic, the effective
therapeutic treatment.
Therefore, the life
quality is so much
better and the patient´s
symptoms are
controlled.

scientific research and at the
same time are solid
foundations for new
researches, that they can
increase the
characterization of each
type of cancer. So, every
day the medicine would do
an import to the patients,
their families and society.
