1. Good Samaritan Hospital – Palm Beach Gardens, Florida
Located on PGA Boulevard adjacent to the Gardens Mall, this Class A medical building consists of 4 stories of
medical offices, MRI, surgery and other specialized construction over one level of “underground” parking. The
project itself is a cast-in-place concrete structure with precast panels and storefront. Although the building appears
“pink” it is actually a reddish brown stone aggregate face and yes the County approved this.
This was the first project of this type for this contractor and client, contracted and under construction when I came
on board as the Project Manager. The existing executed Subcontract Agreements coupled with the project schedule
would have caused the project to be +/- $700,000 over budget and late for the client’s programmed opening date.
We successfully renegotiated all of the contracts incorporating the new pricing and schedule requirements by
change order. This project completed in accordance with the owner’s schedule for move-in as well as under the
original contract budget. Savings were actually recognized in the amount of $+/-150,000. Upon the completion of
the Good Samaritan Hospital project, we were awarded a design-build GMP contract for the Good Samaritan
Orlando Surgery Center.
Our relationship with the client was central to all of our decisions and was the key factor to this overwhelmingly
successful and profitable project.
