Selected Case Highlights
Lyons vs. Merrill Lynch
Represented a securities broker in a wrongful termination case brought against his former employer under the
whistleblower exception to the employment at-will doctrine. After substantialdiscovery,litigation proceeded through to
summary judgment which was argued before the Honorable Judge Dominic J. Squatrito in Hartford Federal District Court.
State of Massachusetts vs. Joe Mangiafico
With sponsorship,appearance Pro Hac Vice was granted by the District Court in Springfield, Massachusetts in a case
involving charges of attempted murder and felony assault. All charges were ultimately dismissed following discovery and
dispositive motions.

State of Connecticut vs. John Doe
Represented a 22 year-old aspiring model who travelled from his home in Boston, Massachusetts to New York City for an
open audition that ended in a drug induced psychosis that lasted approximately three months. In his altered state he was
arrested in Connecticut and charged with Attempted Carjacking, Attempted Kidnapping and Disorderly Conduct. The
Defendant remained incarcerated during the pendency of the case and was ultimately deemed competent to stand trial
following a 54-56d exam. A trial was averted once an independent examination by a mental health expert established the
likelihood that the Defendant’s mental impairment, although lasting months, was transient in nature which ultimately
allowed for a disposition of the case by way of a diversionary program. Additionally, negotiated a dismissal of related
trespassing charges in New York City that arose while the Defendant was in the same drug induced psychosis.
In Re: Belle Casa, Inc
Drafted a specialized stocktransfer agreement, corporate resolutions and other closing documents to allow my client to
ultimately sell all of its corporate assets,including a parcel of real estate currently used to operate an automobile dealership,
in a manner that did not require a full regulatory review of the sale or an onsite inspection of the property.
In Re Estate of Roberto Barilla
Opened an estate in New York Surrogate’s Court, King’s County, to pursue a wrongful death action regarding a pedestrian
who was struck and killed by an intoxicated motorist in Brooklyn, New York. In order to have an Administrator appointed
and secure Letters Testamentary, had the court petition officially translated into Italian, sent to Italy and acknowledged by a
notary (which is not the perfunctory process it is in the United States). The court approved the compromise of claim and
the proceeds were duly disbursed to the beneficiaries.
In Re: Net Plato, Inc.
Represented a Connecticut based software company which developed and sold rules engine and algorithm based products
for use in the health care industry. Drafted the operating agreement for the company, the non-disclosure agreement for
prospective customers and investors as well as the original end userlicensing agreement for the initial software suite.
