Success Story:
A few months ago, the YCFC met with
Rosa, a patient who was diagnosed
with cancer and was unable to pay
for health insurance. Betty and Janet,
respectively a volunteer nurse and
a nurse practioner, did everything in
their power to get Rosa the help she
needed.
They called different area specialists
to make sure that she would receive
the care she deserved. In one day,
they found out that she had a tumor,
removed it, and saved Rosa’s life. Now
she is working again and her life has
been positively changed thanks to the
York County Free Clinic.

The York County Free Clinic Serves the Community by providing
More than Just Healthcare
A year after the launch of its dental and optometry services, on Friday, June 12, 2015 the York
County Free Clinic hosted its first annual community education event “United for a Fresh Start:
A Day at the York County Free Clinic.” The event was held at Grace Lutheran Church and the
neighboring York County Free Clinic (YCFC), a non-profit medical establishment located in Rock
Hill, SC which aims to provide a comprehensive, quality healthcare experience free of charge to
York County residents who meet the clinic’s eligibility requirements.
The event, which is part of the YCFC’s new rebranding campaign, not only highlighted the clinic’s
role in the community in terms of healthcare, but it shows the steps the establishment is willing
to take to bring about a positive change in York County. Those at the clinic know that the more
comprehensive the services are and the better the education is, the better the chances are that
patients will make a full recovery to health and will be able to better work and give back to the
community.
Many patients only visit the YCFC for a short amount of time as they fall just short of being able
to receive Medicare, may be between jobs, or may be working but do not earn enough to
cover ever rising health insurance costs. The YCFC helps these people who seem to have fallen
between the healthcare gaps receive both routine, primary care services as well as life altering
lab and radiology services, prescriptions, and healthcare education in hopes of preventing fur-
ther and more severe health issues.
