ISO14001
Over the last ten years Rolls-Royce policy hasbeen to encourage suppliersto gain third party certificationagainst the environmental
international standard ISO14001. In support we have delivered workshops aroundthe world to our suppliers. Thistraining highlightsthe
importance Rolls-Royce placeson environmental management systemsat suppliersand the effortswe are making through investmentsin
research and technology to reduce the environmental impactsof our products.
To help suppliersunderstand the benefitsof ISO14001 a booklet has been made available to encourage their environment awareness.
Thisbooklet providesinformation on theapproach to the management of health, safety and environmental issuesand our expect ationsof
our supply chain and partner organisations.
Best practice and encouraging suppliers continuous improvement
Rolls-Royce has been working over many yearswith suppliersto support them on their improvementjourney.
We deploy dedicated professionals into the supply chain to help suppliers improvetheir overall businessperformance and capability.
Thisactivity isconductedwith supplierson an individual andgroup basis.
These activitieswith supplierslookto increase material yield andmachine utilisation, reduce scrap and rework, save packaging and
unecessary transportation. Rolls-Royce isactively training suppliers in the use of leandiagnostic and analytical toolsthat helpthem reduce
their costs, by achieving savingsin materials, energy and carbonemissionsthrough the adoptionof leaner methodsin manufacture.
An example of supplier group working isour best practice sharing programme. This is a programme facilitated by Rolls-
Royce Supplier Development wheregroups of non competing suppliers work with each other on shop floor improvement activities
and sharing best practice techniques.
