As owner and president of Ventana Capital, Inc., Darwin Horan oversees
the daily operations of a Colorado land development and investment firm
that owns real property worth more than $140 million. In addition to his
professional obligations, Darwin Horan is a philanthropist who has
contributed his time and resources to a number of charities and
community support organizations. His dedication to coaching children’s
sports teams has been recognized with the Grant Teaff Lifetime
Achievement Award from the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA).

Established in 1954, the FCA challenges coaches and athletes to share the
fellowship of the church and the word of Jesus Christ with their local
communities. Its ministry extends from youth and recreational teams all the
way to the professional level.

Presents John Lotz Barnabas Award
Each year, the FCA presents a number of awards to Christian athletes and
coaches who exemplify the organization’s values. In April 2015, the FCA
announced that Jayson Gee, the head men’s basketball coach of
Longwood University in Virginia, had been selected to receive the John
Lotz Barnabas Award. Prior winners include Indiana’s Tom Crean in 2013,
Iowa’s Steve Alford in 2006, and Valparaiso’s Homer Drew, who won the
first award in 2003.
