2. Introduction
A nondenominational church based in Woodstock, Georgia, His Hands
Church promotes building a close relationship with God through Bible study
and service to others. His Hands Church is a member of the OneRace
movement of Georgia-based churches.
The OneRace movement grew out of the concerns of a diverse group of
pastors who worried about how racist rhetoric was impacting the wider
community. In 2016, the movement’s founders organized a prayer event at
Stone Mountain Park and encouraged the congregation to reject racism and
embrace diversity.
Since that initial gathering, more than 250 churches across Atlanta and
greater Georgia have joined the movement. All organizational members
adhere to the tenants of the OneRace Atlanta Convention, which proclaims
that all humans are equally made in the image of God, and that the church
must serve as a beacon of racial unity and acceptance.
Every year, OneRace organizes several conferences, summits, and events to
discuss the role of the church in supporting and advocating for racial
equality and developing open-minded leaders.
