The author of 27 New York Times Best Sellers, Ludlum is
known primarily for his Jason Bourne trilogy. The trilogy,
which includes The Bourne Identity, The Bourne
Supremacy, and The Bourne Ultimatum, follows former
foreign service officer David Webb on his journey to
regain his memory and hunt down the world’s most
deadly assassins, who are in turn hunting him for
betraying the secretive CIA operation Treadstone 71.
Earlier in his career, Webb was recruited for the
operation and developed into a deadly assassin known
as Jason Bourne.v

3. Jason Bourne Series
 He developed amnesia after being shot multiple
times during a failed mission on a boat in the
Mediterranean Sea.
First published in 1980, The Bourne Identity was
made into a major motion picture starring Matt
Damon in 2002, one year after Ludlum died. The
Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum were
later made into movies, as was The Bourne Legacy,
a continuation of the series published in 2003 and
written by Eric Van Lustbader. He has since written
nine additional novels in the Bourne series, with
another, The Bourne Initiative, set to be released in
2017.
