Concept and mechanism
Presentation
The Cluj Community Foundation implements a pilot-edition of a fundraising event
that targets individual and corporate donors – the Cluj Donor Circle (CDC).

The CDC Network will be thus developed.

Locally implemented under The Funding Network label, in partnership with the
Association for Community Relations and Transylvania College, the CDC event
brings a new approach in fundraising, reuniting donor groups who join their efforts
and support projects from various areas.

Selected by the Cluj Community Foundation and included in a brochure, these
projects are presented in public and donors pledge to support them.

In the first edition of the CDC event we will raise funds for three projects
(minimum fundraising objective: 6.000 lei/project).
The first Cluj Donor Circle event will take place on April 25th 2013 and will be
hosted by Transylvania College (Băişoara Alley, Cluj-Napoca) starting from 6
PM.

Three community projects included in the CDC Brochure will be presented during
the event and different categories of donors will pledge for supporting them later
on.

Financial objective: 6.000 lei/project*.

*CCF will charge a 10% fee to the totals raised for each project, which will be used
for covering the CDC event costs.
The event mechanism
Each project will be presented in public for at least 6 minutes, followed by other 6
minutes allocated for questions and answers.

Further on, during the pledging session, the participant donors commit to offer
donations for the presented projects:

- ambassador-donors: the required minimum donation – 2.000 lei/project
- individual donors: the required minimum donation – 150 lei/one or more projects
(minimal donation/project/session)
- matching donors: they stimulate the involvement of donors in the CDC event,
offering a specific amount during the pledging session, provided that this is
matched with the donations offered by one or several participants.

Event fee: 25 lei/donor.
The CDC Actors
(1) Ambassador-donors
- individual and corporate donors-
Roles:
- they select a project and promote it during the CDC campaign;
- together with the engaged partners, they raise a minimum amount of 2.000 lei for the project
they promote;

public donation; moreover, they plead for that specific project in a two minute intervention.

Benefits:
- they become members of the CDC Network, they interact with other donors and establish new
contacts;
- they have a direct influence on the community area upon which they act and contribute to
change;
- they become the ambassadors of a cause that becomes visible in the community and are
acknowledged as social responsible actors;
- their involvement is publicly recognized;
- they have the opportunity of choosing the projects for which funds will be raised in the next

- they stimulate the involvement of donors in the CDC event, offering a specific amount,
provided during the pledging session; this is matched with the donations offered by one or several
participants.
      e.g.: they commit to match specific amounts (400 lei or 600 lei), depending on the matching

Cluj Community
Foundation
We are a private funder and we serve the philanthropic interests of our donors -
both companies and individuals - by managing private funds, channeled towards
the needs of our community, as grants and scholarships.

In addition, we provide consultancy services to the companies that are supporting
our community, assisting them in identifying the areas in which they can fund
specific initiatives, as well as the mechanisms through which they can contribute to
the development of the community.

We are also serving donor groups and individuals who are seeking for involvement
opportunities that can allow them also to make the best use of their professional
and life experience.

Between 2008 and 2012 we offered a total amount of 1.000.000 lei, of which
635.000 lei covered 150 grants for projects from a variety of areas. The remaining
365.000 lei covered 130 scholarships, awarded to high school and university
students.

We are a private funder and we serve the philanthropic interests of our donors - both companies and individuals - by managing private funds, channeled towards the needs of our community, as grants and scholarships. In addition, we provide consultancy services to the companies that are supporting our community, assisting them in identifying the areas in which they can fund specific initiatives, as well as the mechanisms through which they can contribute to the development of the community. We are also serving donor groups and individuals who are seeking for involvement opportunities that can allow them also to make the best use of their professional and life experience. Between 2008 and 2012 we offered a total amount of 1.000.000 lei, of which 635.000 lei covered 150 grants for projects from a variety of areas. The remaining 365.000 lei covered 130 scholarships, awarded to high school and university students.
