RE: Letter of Recommendation – Daniel Segarra
I am pleased to provide a positive recommendation toward Mr. Segarra’s application for
employment. I have known Mr. Segarra for about 9 months as a student intern for projects
involving vehicle passive safety testing, sensor calibrations and repairs. Mr. Segarra, a student
intern first introduced to Transportation Research Center Inc. in June 20, 2015, worked through
the middle of August 2015.
I was very impressed with Mr. Segarra. He made good impressions, as he was always polite and
professional. What most impressed me was Mr. Segarra’s work ethic and ability to comprehend
challenging subject matter. It was very clear that he preferred to stay busy and he worked hard to
complete tasks of varying difficulty. When he would complete a task, he was always quick to
ask for another assignment. His intelligence and work ethic afforded Mr. Segarra the opportunity
to work in many areas of the Impact Laboratory.
Mr. Segarra first worked in the Impact Laboratory helping to prepare and test reports and
supporting documentation. Mr. Segarra quickly became proficient in test reporting, generating
data presentations and processing the data post-test. Mr. Segarra demonstrated both the ability to
perform the work and an understanding of the results beyond what a student intern normally
exhibits.
Because of his initiative, Mr. Segarra earned the opportunity to move into the instrument
calibration lab adding metrology to his learning experience. Mr. Segarra worked with various
sensors that measure acceleration, force and displacement. He quickly learned to make repairs to
cables and the processes for calibration of these devices.
Mr. Segarra’s technical competence is good, and his ability to apply his knowledge to TRC’s
laboratories was truly impressive.
It is my hope that prospective employers will consider Mr. Segarra worthy of the opportunities
and challenges of employment.
Respectfully,
Ron Burton
Vice President, Laboratories Business Unit
Transportation Research Center Inc.
