2. WHAT DID I LEARN ABOUT THE
CAMERAS?
Whilst filming our preliminary task I learn about many camera
angles and movements/techniques.
The first shot consisted of an ‘Over the shoulder’ shot and use
of a establishing shot of the abandon house. These purpose of
the these shots is firstly to establish where the action will take
place and to put the audience in the characters shoes.
In addition, I learnt about continuity techniques by using ‘Match
on Action’. The techniques makes the film run smoother.
I also learnt about the equipment and their purposes- Tri-pod and
Camera.
3. WHAT DID I LEARN ABOUT THE
SOFTWARE?
To edit our preliminary task we used ‘IMovie’ published by Apple.
The preliminary task enabled us to become familiar with the
software.
-We learnt how to ‘trim’/crop the individual shots and order
them appropriately.
-We altered the contrast, exposure and brightness to make the
video more mysterious
-For the start of the video we used a tool that enabled us to slow
the footage down to created an eerie and unsettling atmosphere.
-We also learnt how to add and edit sound effects.
4. WHAT DID I ENJOY
Planning-
The planning process was extremely enjoyable; we both had several exciting
and imaginative suggestions and ideas.
Filming-
The filming process was the most enjoyable stage out of the three. The
combination of acting and filming allowed me have both perspective on the
process.
Experimenting with the different pieces of equipment that I haven't
previously used was also enjoyable.
In addition, the outtakes were extremely funny.
Editing-
The most enjoyable stage of editing was when we finished and viewed the
final video/project.
5. WHAT DIFFICULTIES DID WE
ENCOUNTER
-Whilst filming we using natural light to give sense of
realism; however as time progressed we found our
self's without a sufficient amount of light.
-Regarding props, however effective we only could
find to a bag and fake skeleton. We wanted to include
more props in the video.
6. WHAT WAS GOOD ABOUT YOUR
PRELIM?
-I think that the location of our prelim was ideal, it
created a eerie and mysterious atmosphere.
- I addition I think the continuity of our video was
excellent.
-The music was stereotypical to the ‘Thriller’ genre and
appropriate for the action in the scene.
-The props used, in particular the (fake) skeleton.
-We used a variety of camera angles and movements through the
video.
7. WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN
IMPROVED
-In relation to lighting, our time management regarding
filming wasn't good enough. In the future I will corchus
of the time and light available.
-The cuts during the chase could have been quicker to
increase the tension.
