1. To Whom It May Concern,
My name is Katrina Rousselle-Countess and I am a Zone Supervisor (formerly Human
Resources Manager) at Walmart Store #1626, (2000 W. Memorial Rd) in Oklahoma City, OK. I
have been with Walmart since 1982. I am writing in regard to Daniel P. Harder. In 2005, I
conducted his initial interview for Walmart and recommended him to upper store management to
do a second interview. Daniel was hired the next day by Walmart. My first impressions of
Daniel was that he was an extremely dedicated and motivated individual. He dressed
professionally and presented himself in a respectful manner.
Daniel exceeded expectations with his training and day to day productivity. I noticed
immediately that he took his training very seriously. He completed all of his computer and book
courses much faster than the other new hires, and he scored between 95-100% on every course.
Daniel would actively ask questions so that he could learn how everything worked, and this
would enable him to advance quickly in his career.
Another outstanding quality Daniel had, is that he would volunteer for the tough jobs that no one
else wanted to do, such as go out in the parking lot in extreme weather and push in baskets, or
clean the restrooms or mop up spills anywhere in the store. If there was anything important or
urgent that needed to be done, all of the Management Team knew they could count on Daniel to
get it done.
Daniel was hired in as a Sales Associate in the Housewares & Small Appliances Department, but
within a year, the Store Manager had put Daniel into training to be a Department Manager. In
July, 2006, he was named Department Manager or Housewares, and then in October, Daniel
volunteered to take over as Department Manager of Pet Food because no one else wanted it, due
to the heavy bags of dog food.
Daniel's customer service skills are top-notch. He went above-and-beyond to satisfy every
customer, and he even helped customers in other departments when no employees were around
in those areas. He was always willing to go to the backroom and search for items that may have
been empty on the salesfloor shelf, and usually he found them, or he would call another Walmart
store and have them set that item aside for the customer. Daniel even handled angry customers
exceptionally-well. He never lost his cool, but always remained polite and professional, which
can be a challenge at Walmart.
Daniel always displayed the highest level of integrity, honesty, and work ethic. In 6 years at the
Oklahoma City, OK Walmart Store, Daniel only called in sick twice, and had a doctor's note each
time.
He was named Employee of the Month 5 times, and I'm sure he would've been named many
2. more times had Walmart not ended their Employee of the Month Program in 2006.
I would absolutely re-hire Daniel, if I were given the opportunity to make the decision. He is one
of the finest managers I've ever trained in my 32-year career with Walmart.
Sincerely,
Katrina Rousselle-Countess
