RAD (Research and Development) Lab
The Research & Development Lab (R&D Lab) will link the analysis, evaluation and viability of business concepts to deployment in quick time. Located primarily in
Canberra with ready access to a dedicated collaborative workspace, it will follow a concept of “fail/succeed fast” to identify what should progress to production.
Business stakeholders, EST and ATOC work together to consider and mature the candidate for recommendation to the Smarter Data Program Board

CANDIDATE EVALUATION
Leveraging from the investment valuation
methodology used in the PMO, candidates will
be assessed by considering the business
benefits against the maturity of the idea. Ideas
in the upper quadrant are more likely to be
considered for selection
CANDIDATE CONFIRMATION
The Program Board considers the evaluated
candidates looking at the business objectives,
outcomes and an architectural assessment to
confirm its suitability and priority.
ASSESS: Current Program of Work (Input > Process > Output)
The RAD Program of Work is set to commence on 24/11/2014, when the first business operations will be tested. In total there are currently 7 candidate set to run in the lab.

When the testing is completed, an evaluation of the candidate and provide their recommendations, based on the following considerations:

• How long will it take for full scale
deployment?
• Is there any critical time frames that
need to be considered (eg: activity
statements, TaxTime, legislative
requirements etc)
• Are there procurement activities that
need to occur?
• Are there system changes that need
to made?
• Are there training or resource
requirements that need to be met?
